I had a stye/chalazion on bottom eyelid about ten years ago and after a couple of months had cutting and draining done inside the eyelid; wasn't painful at the time as they numbed it, but that night crying in pain.
Well, I now have another one on the bottom lid of the other eye and it has been there about 1 1/2 months and was hoping you could advise me if there was any other treatment other than cutting the inside of the eyelid and draining?
Thanks

Tootie,
Nearly all will be aborted IF hot moist soaks are used, 5 minutes at a time every hour as soon as you are sure this is starting (You have had this often enough that you should be an expert at catching it early.) Within 24-48 hours it will be resolving and then using the soaks 3-4 times a day, till it is surely gone, will be enough.
Why has no one told you this before????
If it is not obviously better in 48 hours, you need to see a physician for possible antibiotics in addition to the soaks.
The problem is that: the longer it goes on the more likely that the little blocked duct to the gland (which is what causes the condition) can be permanently damaged. THEN, only some kind of surgery is needed. You might look into laser surgery since it is a perfect selection for this kind of thing and a LOT less bothersome.
After 1 1/2 months you might still resolve this with the hot soaks. At least it is worth while trying---you can always do the surgery. Because it has been there this long, it will take at least several days to begin to see improvement and a couple of weeks to be able to stop the soaks. You will easily know if it is working.
Let us know how you do.
Walt
