Dr.Stoll- My 3 year old daughter was diagnosed with strabismus. The doctor is recommending surgery. This makes me very uneasy and quite frankly scared. Do you have any
advice or recommendations. Thank you very much. I appreciate all your help.

Hi, Dee.
Was this not apparent long before this? If so, surgery may be indicated.
However, if it just became apparent, there are likely many other options that would work quickly enough to avoid the long term supression of that eye caused by the strabismus.

Dr.Stoll--We noticed her right eye turning in about a year
ago. It happens when she is focusing in on something close.
Do you really think the operation is necessary? The doctor
said 1 out of 3 children need the surgery again over time!
Have you heard anything about vision therapy? Thank you
again for your astounding knowledge and willingness to share it.

Dear Stacy,
With THIS kind of history, there are lots of "vision therapies" that would resolve this permanently. The best one I know of is associated with using a mini-trampoline. You know how kids this age like to bounce on stuff!
Also, with this kind of history, just improving the efficiency of her brain chemistry would help a lot since this is mostly controlled by the brain tissue. A strict whole foods diet would likely straighten her eye all by itself within 3-6 months. At this age, you still have total control over her diet IF you are willing to put out the effort. In a year or so you will have lost that opportunity.
If she were mine, I would do the rebounding vision thrapy AND only allow her to have a perfect whole foods diet for the next year. I would also find the very best pediatric therapeutic supplement program (Ethical Nutrients is the best company I know).
