cataract diagnosis

Posted by georgia [20.68] on January 26, 2005 at 16:46:24:

Hi Dr. Stoll, I went for my annual eye exam today and was told that I have a very small cataract on the left eye. I have been extremely near-sighted all my life. I am 60 years old. The doc discussed surgery but said we should wait until I get a cataract on the other eye (which, he said, I most probably will), and then he will fix both eyes together. He also said there is a larger risk of retinal detachment with this surgery for people who are extremely near-sighted, like me. That didn't sound too good. Anyway, do you know of anything I should be doing or not doing, to take care of this cataract WITHOUT surgery. Diet, supplements, eye exercises, etc. I am also going to check with my homeopathic physician on this. I appreciate your input and advice, as always. Thanks so much.

Some cataracts can be caused by metal poisoning, so you might check out your fillings in your mouth. It can also be caused by aging, certain drugs,diabetes exposure to radiation or an injury to the eye. There are many different suppliments that can help assist one, this would depend on what you might be lacking; Here are a few that the books say can help; Copper & Maganese-Grape seed extract-L-Lysine; Vit A, Vit B complex, Vit C-Vit e and Zinc-
You probably would like to get an evaluation done to see what you might need;
Drink Plenty of Water, preferably steamed-distilled for cataract prevention; Avoid fluoridated and chlorinated water; Avoid diary products, saturated fats and any oils that have been subjected to heat.
Intuitively; I'd check out;
Now my feeling is that you have Heavy Metals, if i were you you might look into doing irridology, or some other way to find out if it could be cobalt, nickel, iridium, and bromine or other metals;

Hi, Georgia.

I agree with your doc's plan.
However, I might suggest the only nutritional approach that I have seen reverse cataract formation: Contact Body Toddy, The Rockland Corporation, 12215 East Skelly Drive, Tulsa, OK 74128.

After a year have your cataracts checked again and see if there has been any advance compared with what he can see right now. The real difference will be in about 5 years when he is expecting a lot of advance and may no longer see any evidence of cataract at all.

Walt

Hi Dr. Stoll, I just looked up Body Toddy, Rockland Corp. on the web and it sounds like a real scam. Don't know if I want to get involved with this.

I'm not sure who tests for that in your area, but ask around at your local health food store and you can call Virgil Dodson at 1800-8000-0432 at the www.wellbeingranch.org and ask about it;

Georgia,

I have seen it's effectiveness in my patients. It take about a year to see a difference in the normal progression.

It was discovered by an ophthalmologist who was making a LOT more money doing surgery than he ever made from promoting his discovery.

What can it harm to try?

Walt

Hi Dr. Stoll, Thanks for your reply. But if its a scam, maybe they are not even in business anymore. Anyway, maybe it would be harmful. If you have time, check it out. I just typed in Body Toddy, Rockland Corporation, Tulsa, OK and got a bunch of sites, all negative. Thanks again

Dr. Stoll, I just found this website, Smartbomb.com It describes a product, Colloidal 75, which used to be Body Toddy, if I understand it correctly. It lists all the ingredients, including 20 mg. of iron. It also says that if you have high blood pressure, which I have, to consult with a physician before taking it. What are your thoughts. For some reason, I thought I was not supposed to take iron, but I can't remember why. Thanks again
