I read the postings about the intracelluar magnesium deficiency being a possible cause of eye twitches...how does one go about treating this short of injections-- because I don't know a doctor who would give me injections of magnesium. Is ther a specific kind that can be taken orally to help this condition? I've been having a right eye twitch for a few weeks now with lots of watering too. Thanks for any help you can give me! Barb

someone once suggested to me drinking mineral water, but I never tested the theory.

Hi Barb,
When I was trying to get magnesium IVs, I wrote a nice letter asking for what I wanted and I faxed it to different doctors in town. If they were willing to do it, they would call me.
Have you tried just taking magnesium in supplements?
How's your stress level? Decreasing stress might also help.
Are you drinking enough water, etc?
Hope you get over it soon.
Best wishes,
Jan

I was having terrible eye twitches day and night for at least a month. Then I went on a lemon/water kick and have been drinking between 4-6 glasses of water daily. Guess what, the twitches have stopped!

I've had eye twitches for the last 28 yrs, i find that if i avoid preservatives, colours, etc etc etc and just eat fresh fruit, vegs, legumes, etc, my ticks markedly dissappear, apparently they are caused by thyroid disease but i just read somewhere.

Thanks, Rob.
The most common cause, by far, is the accumulation of chronic stress-effect in the hypothalamus. Your story just proves the premise in my home page article: "Modern Medical Interpretation of Stress". It would help you to review it.
The second most common contributing factor is low intracellular magnesium (archives).
I have yet to see a patient that did not resolve this permanently by addressing both those factors.
This symptom is just a whisper from your bodymind asking for help. If you ignore the whisper eventually your body will have to shout and you will not like that!
Let us know what you learn.
