Bad vision in left eye

On New Years eve I lost the sight in my left eye, after much testing I was told that there is a spot of Cholesterol in one of the blood vesels in the eye and that I will have to wait and see if it will go away. I was told that it could take weeks, months or maybe years. Is there any thing that can be done to correct this problem?

Hi Steve,

I can't promise that it will help but I would try Vitamin E, Vitamin C and lots of leafy green vegetables (spinach is especially good for the vision)

Hi Steve,

Did the doc advise that a low cholesterol, low calorie
diet would be advisable to prevent further damage?

If the blockage is complete the retina has likely died at the occluded spot. What is being done to dissolve the blockage?

Have you been checked for diabetes?

Steve,

After a few hours, there probably is little you can do. This probably is a 100% blockage and the retina metabolism is probably too high to survive more than a few minutes without oxygen.

Since the things that MIGHT help can only help prevent the same thing from happening in the brain (stroke), heart (coronary), legs (arterial occlusion amputation), why not do them? If the blockege is not 100% it might even help your eye.

Listen to Fork, Ron & Lissa and let us know what you learn and how you do.

Walt

I lost my central vision after an injury inhaling chem fumes. I got heartburn and took an antacid and the vision returned. Found out when the body goes acid that blood will pool in the brain and press on the optic nerves and affect vision. Might be worth a try.

I also had a problem when trying lecithin. I was trying it since they say it can remove plaque from blood vessles like chelation is said to do. I had it for a while in the frige, and thought it had a bitter after taste, and kept tasting it to try to figure if it did. I don't know how many half tsp's I swallowed, but not that long after I had a blind spot in my field of vision in one eye. It was like a dagger coming down from the top. It was hard to be sure since it was high in my field of view, and seemed to move when I looked up. It did eventually go away. I wondered if some plaque broke off and got stuck somewhere. Maybe lecithin is something to try, but a little. I think they recomend 12tsp's/day to remove plaque. I had asked a chemist friend if he thought it could remove plaque, and he said it was an emulsfier, so thought it might be possible.

also loads of Vit. A - " A, C, E "

all of these are essential for eye support. Anything that supports the liver will also aid eyes. (Milk Thistle, CoQ10, Alpha Lipoi Acid.
Good Luck.

Have you had your thyroid checked? This can be a symptom. You also might try the eye supplements mentioned previously, a lipase enzyme supplement, and the addition of omega-3 fatty acids.

My dog has had these -- it took me a year to get rid of them the first time. They are back no because he is on eye meds that suppress the eyes and affect the cornea.

Is there any inflammation in the eye? This can be associated with other autoimmune problems.
