Dear Dr.
About 2 months ago both of my eyes were red swollen and painful as if something was poking inside my lower eyelid. After about two days the poking sensation went away and I had what appeared to be several styes along each lash line. I work with an ARNP who put me on Keflex for a week. The right eye cleared but the left remained red and swollen with a lump which could be felt on the surface of my skin below the lower lash line. A physician treated me with topical antibiotics for 10 days. It has now been approximately 2 months and there is no change in the left eye. It is red, swollen underneath, a raised bump on the lower lashline-almost inside of my lower lid, and several small white clusters inside my lower lid. The eye is painful and sometimes dry and sometimes teary. Occasional there is a line of a sticky, stringy type film along the lower lash line-2-3 times per week. I don't have insurance at this time, can you give me any advice?

Hi, DJ.
This continuous problem is common in one who is dehydrated. I will bet that you would be surprised if you could develop the habit of drinking at LEAST 8-8 ounce glasses of filtered water every 24 hours. This will not be easy at first because old habits are hard to break and beneficial new ones are hard to establish.
However, what you are experiencing right now is not easy either IS IT?
THEN, when you are well, you might try to educate your docs about this simple fact!
Let us know how you do.
Walt

Addendum: Since this has gone on so long you may need to do the water for a few months to totally resolve the issue. You will see improvements in s week or so. THEN, when you are normal, you would be crazy to stop the water habit since your bodymind has sent you a painful message (this problem). The next message would, of necssity be more serious.
