Bothersome eye problem, yet no one can diagnose it

Posted by mike on February 08, 2001 at 18:55:29:

I've seen 3 seperate opthamalogists and 1 neurologist with no luck. They all downplay my symptoms and claim it is "dry eyes" or "mild photosensitivity" without listening specifically to my problem, and why it could be neither of those. I'll try to make this as concise as possible, but since they are rather strange symptoms it may take some explaining.

Over everything is a kind of fuzzy glaring haze, particularly white surfaces, or surfaces that have a great deal of contrast (i.e. a fan, grates, blinds) which severely impairs my day-to-day activities. The condition is visible in any light, however it gets much worse in brighter light. Also my eyes feel kind of glazed over or fatigued, like they aren't focusing or teaming quite right.

One other important note that all the doctors seem to simply ignore: When I close either eye the symptoms almost entirely go away, especially after a few minutes.
Finally, my right eye has many floaters while my left eye has very few. Additionally my right eye feels much more strained and sort of lazy than my left eye, but its acuity still is entirely intact.
I have been tested for major major ocular impairments and have studied any sort of common disorders without finding a match.. no one seems to know what this is. My guess would be some sort of minor eye-teaming problem, but no opthamologist can confirm that.
If anyone can make sense of these symptoms I'd be extremely grateful. The more I inspect my life the more I realize this problem is ruining it. Thanks a lot.
