I, too, have what has been diagnosed as a sebaceous cyst below my right eye, near my nose. The ENT wants to excise it after the antibiotics are used up, but mentioned going in through the mouth as it would not leave visible scarring.

So, to anyone who knows, is this common? I'm praying that the cyst (about 2mm long) will simply be GONE by next week, but if not I like to have a little more information heading into surgery. Also, are there any specific questions I should ask the doc before I do this?

Thanks!

It may be a chalazion cyst. You can check it in the search above or you can check out the search by date on Jan. 22, 2000 find an answer about it from Dr. Stoll.

i have went to see an eye specialist and they confirmed that it is not a chalazion as the cyst is located quite far down from the eyelid..i have done an x-ray too n this further confirmed that the cyst is located under the skin surface..the cyst is still red and swollen..right now i am taking antibiotic..i have read about essential oil in this website and i would like to try on that..Dr. Stoll..what essential oil should i take..will evening primose oil do..how many capsules should i take daily?..at the moment i am trying the hot compress too..how long do i have to continue applying the compress?

Hi, huilin.

The diagnosis is probably right. Remember that the hot compresses will only reverse the secondary infections caused by the blockage of the duct---NOT the cyst itself.

The essential oils will not, usually, get rid of a sebaceous cyst once it is established. Their best use is for people who are having new ones frequently.

I would get it removed.

Hi, Sally.

Chalazion cysts only occur in the upper eyelid since the glands they form from are only there.

Huilin.

The hot compresses will ONLY deal with any infection and NOT the cyst itself.

The essential oils will not deal with this cyst but only prevent recurrent and new multiple cysts.

The article on the homepage details exactly what oils one would have to take to prevent multiple new cysts. MOST people who just happen to have a single cyst will not ever experience multiple cysts.
