Ovulation Tests

Posted by Trish on April 05, 2001 at 10:41:00:

As some of you have read my husband and I are trying to get pregnant...of course this was our first month of trying. I had taken an ovulation test the 1st and it showed positive. I took another one today (the 5th) just for the heck of it and it still shows positive. I ovulated on the 2nd. Is it normal for the LH to be that strong still after 3 days of ovulation? I am curious if this could mean that I have conceived because the instructions say that if "you have recently miscarriaged or given birth, the test will show positive"..so couldn't this mean if you are pregnant it could show positive as well? I hate waiting till the 12th to take a pregnancy test to know for sure...LOL..anyway...does anyone have info about this for me?

Sorry about the double post, my computer froze up! (nmi)

Hi, Trish.

Has your husband's fertility been checked?

Walt

Walt,

No it hasn't...there has never been a reason to have it checked. Our first two sons were like first time tries...and this time around we have only tried this one month (Could be pg now for all I know). I was just curious if anyone knew anything about OTests. The instructions say if you are pregnant you could get a misleading result. Well 4 days of it being positive should classify as a misleading result shouldn't it? Guess I will just have to wait till the 12th to take PG test to know for sure.

Hi, Trish.

Think about this: How come although you have proven YOUR fertility and IT can change but your husband's cannot? This is NOT appropo for YOUR case but the problem in general

Since the average time it takes anyone to get pregnant is 2 years, I agree that you do not need to consider anything for YOU.

MY response was for anyone on the BB who might have a fertility problem. The profesion tends to focus too much on the woman's fertility and ignores the man's since men are most of the docs and a lack of fertility somehow seems to translate to a lack of virility in both the patient's and the doc's minds.

The fact is that men are SO much easier to check and THEY make up about 50% of the fertility problems.

Thanks for bringing it up.

Walt
