Is Anyone familiar with Rabdomyolisis? A friend was diagnosed with that. She's had issues for years that doctors could not categorize (odd sensations in muscles). At one point it was fibromyalgia?
What do you know about this? Is it treatable (they say it isn't at this point). Is there anything she can do, she is giving up hope after several years of pain.
Thanks for your help
How do we contribute funds to keep this site going?
Also, do you still consult with people 1 on 1 by phone?

Thanks for the questions...
Can you give me a little history about your friend with the Rabdomyolisis? >> She was on a concoction of drugs for at least 2-3 years after a car accident and a fall. One of them was Ambien (self prescribed) and she took at least 2-3 times the normal dose. She was on various drugs for depression, plus others for all the side effects of these. She was a mess when she was on these things. She also had hemocromatosis and was treated by removing the iron from her blood.
Has she ever used Baycor? Erythromycin? Diet supplements? Sports enhancers? Steroids? >> Not that I know of.
Had any muscle injuries? She fell down the stairs and messed up her shoulder so that might count. Also a car accident getting hit on the side which likely was the source of her pain.
Heat stroke? Does she eat quail (I know this sounds like a weird question)? >> I don't think so.
Is she a heavy drinker? >> Doesn't drink that I know of.
Does she work out? Aerobics? >> Used to, but lightly in my view, nothing high intense. Used to scuba dive.
Been told in the past that her body isn't getting rid of calcium efficiently? not that I'm aware of, but I don't know she's been to a Dr. that would tell her that.
Thanks for the questions. She's seen a lot of "MD"s and one "naturopath". The naturopath tried to get her off all the drugs and she had reactions to that and rejected her advice. I've suggested whole foods diet and vitamins along the way although I seriously doubt she is doing that right now. I was looking for general guidance or evidence from anyone who has recovered from this or is improving.
What you've said about cells, feeding the cells makes sense. There must be something out of balance. In terms of diet, she used to eat a LOT of yogurt and 7-up years before she was ill. I don't think she ate a good diet at the time.
The BIG challenge is getting some evidence that she can be helped because its been going on so long, something to try won't give her hope at this point (course, she hasn't been doing anything in the last few years to improve, just seeing doctors who are...not helpful if not hurtful...).
Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Keith, the only thing I see right off might be the Ambien. The dose isn't supposed to be doubled or tripled and leg cramps and neuropathy have been cited as a side affect. I don't know if the Ambien has anything to do with your friend's problems now, but I'm sure it wasn't a good thing to be taking that much for that long a period of time.
Also, if your friend isn't even willing to try the whole food diet, it seems that she isn't really ready to do anything about the condition of her health. You're a good friend to search out information for her, but ultimately, it's her decision to change things for herself. I'll poke around and see if I can locate anyone who's had experience with rabdomyolisis, but it seems pretty rare.

Hi, Keith.
It is spelled rhabdomyolysis and is a far advanced complication of fibromyositis (same as fibromyalgia).
That means that she needs to become an expert in the causes of that and start reversing it (see the archives).
Have her let me know what she learns and then as she gets well to share her experiences with the bulletin board so others do not have to go through what she has.

Thank you for the responses. I agree with you the individual must change. I know for myself, I got renewed hope after visiting this web site as it helped me get back to a new level of health. I'm hoping I can pass that hope onto her, but the mind does have to be willing first to believe (which is what Jesus preached). Thanks, and anyone with a testimonial on Fibromalgia or Rabdomyolysis, I'd like to hear it.
