Question about Zoloft

Posted by Lyndsey on June 01, 2003 at 21:14:31:

My doctor wants to put me on Zoloft 25mg for panic with agoraphobia and ocd. I heard theres a liquid form of this. II am afraid of side effects...sleepiness, nausea, dishrrea etc.. Would there be less side effects with the liquid? I know people on this and they rave about it. If I take it with food, would this help the nausea? I hate the feeling of beinf nauseaus. I am also planning on trying wellness and SR, but I want to try the Zoloft. What do you all think?

Hi Lyndsey,

Sorry I can't help with Zoloft advice because I don't do meds (not even aspirin).

Have you looked at the brain chemistry archives and gotten some books about Orthomolecular Medicine from the library? That is a different way to deal with this type of problem, that uses vitamins instead of meds.

I've been doing megadoses of vitamins and find that it really changes my physical condition -- which also affects my state of mind.

Best wishes,
Happygal

Hi Lyndsey, I do wellness, diet, exercise, SR, supplements, and found myself in some life situations that almost pushed me to the edge. There are some times in life where we might need an anti-depressant to help us out. I tried the Zoloft and it worked great. I did have the nausea for a side effect. Unforunately, it never got better so I went off the Zoloft. I took it for a few weeks and found thats all I needed to get me through a crisis. You may need it longer. Good luck in whatever decision you decide to make for yourself.

I've had another phobia -- intensive shyness. But instead of dumbing or numbing my feelings (not that any sane doctor would prescribe a drug for shyness in a country I lived in), I decided to deal with the cause (to the best of my ability). I found an NLP (neurolinguistic programming) practitioner, and he started my improvement process. I don't have much of shyness left. Well, I wouldn't walk naked outside, but still I don't have that old intense, very limiting feeling of shyness.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is said to be very, very effective and efficient for different kinds of phobias. Try to find an experienced practitioner to eliminate your problem, not deaden your ability to feel the feeling.

Maybe I should try EFT for my phobia of lizards. Have you used it for any phobias you may have?

Thanks, R. for bring up neurolinguistic programming!

This very effective technique is vastly under-used by the profession.

Namaste`
