Clear fluid from Hemorrhoid?

Posted by Wendy on September 29, 2003 at 18:49:36:

Hi,
I have a Very small amount of clear fluid coming from my anal area. Could it be from my hemhorroids? Sometimes it has a little thread of blood it it, but mostly, it is clear. I have checked, it is not urine, it is not coming from the urethra.
It doesn't drip, I saw it when wiping, and checked it out and it's minimal, but I am concerned that it could travel up and give me a UTI.
Thanks
Wendy

Hi, Wendy.

There are two components of colonic excretion: solid and liquid (corrosive fatty acids that lubricate the stool and excrete stuff that is not solid). Hemorrhoids structurally make it difficult for the anal sphincter to hold the liquid stuff in. This is the clear liguid you are seeing.

The solution is to get rid of the hemorrhiods (See the hemorrhoid archives.)
