There seems to be ongoing questions regarding swollen lymph nodes and panic when finding a lump somewhere in your body. Here is some facts about the lymph system.
The lymph system is a network of fluid, organs, nodes and nodules, ducts, glands, and vessels that continuously and agressively cleanse the body of waste matter.
Millions upon millions of nodes, some minuscule, some large, guard the passages into the body against the intrusion of destructive substances.
There is three times as much lymph fluid in your body as there is blood.
The lymph system is involved in the production of white blood cells ( lymphocytes ) that seek out, capture, and destroy foreign substances such as bacteria and other " invaders " and remove them from the body as well.
Except for cartilage, nails and hair, your entire body is bathed in lymph. It looks like a fine sheath of lace covering and saturating everything. Some lymph nodes are close to the surface of your skin and you can feel them on the sides of your neck, under your chin, under your arms, where your legs meet your torso and of course your breasts. To see some large lymph nodes you only have to open your mouth and look at your tonsils, unless your like me and don't have tonsils.
The function of the lymph node:
They colect toxins when the lymph system is overloaded. You may liken them to a dam that holds back the water so the town does not get flooded. If your lymph nodes didn't do their job, your body would be poisoned from excess toxins. When you have one of your lymph nodes cut out you are poking a hole in the dam. Your lymph nodes are your warriors, your guardians, performing an indispensable service protecting you from harm. YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT THEM.
A swollen lymph node is only the symptom of a cause that is not being addressed. Take note when you feel a swollen lymph node and heed the warning signal. Your lymph system is overloaded and needs your help. Anything you can do to assist your lymph system should be done. Eating raw whole foods. Exercising. Rebounding is one of the best in helping to clean the lymph system. All the one-way valves of the lymph system are closed at the bottom of the bounce and they are all oppened at the top of the bounce, allowing and stimulating the flow of lymph. As little as 5 minutes can be of great value. A little effort goes a long way. Do not neglect your body's sewer and defence system. Keep it clean and your body will thank you with renewed good health.

Those were very interesting and relevant points, Steve.
Too bad you couldn't have included a map though, I think people mix up lymph nodes with muscle knots and
think either might be a tumor.

Silver Fox:
What about hanging upside down on a gravity machine? Would that enable the valves to open?

Marian,
I'm not sure. I think you have to be moving because your lymph valves don't open when your sleeping.

That's why I usually recommend doing that and
ESPECIALLY since they don't do the biopsy.

So what makes them turn from soft and swollen to dense and rubbery.

Probably depends on what the toxins are and how long they have been there.
