Genetically Engineered (GE) Foods - This concerns ALL OF US

I had NO idea how common GE foods have become until last week's ABC evening news coverage. Until now, I always thought that if I just eat whole foods, I'll be okay. But while I choose organically grown grains, I do buy most of my vegetables and fruits from the grocery stores and the farmer's market in the summer.

What really got me upset was that we have no way of knowing when we're eating genetically altered foods because the FDA does not require the companies involved to label their GE foods.

I immediately did a search on Infoseek and came up with lots of links to GE foods. The following one I think is one of the best. Please inform yourself and then voice your objection to this dangerous process. The site will show you how if you care to get involved.

Here is a sample of the kind of info you can find on the site whose link is listed below:

"Genetic engineering is the largest food experiment in the history of the world. We are all the guinea pigs.

60-70% of the foods on your grocery shelves contain genetically engineered (GE) components. The FDA estimates that within the next few years 150 new genetically engineered foods will be approved for sale."

Thanks, Rosemarie.

This is going to be a major health problem for the 21st century. It is immoral and should be illegal. This is an example of how far out of kilter the government is. If you had enough lobby money you could put arsenic in everything!

We need a crusade of emails and/or letter writing to our congressmen and the FDA to protest this. The government is not going to protect us----they are the problem! Unless the people demand better, they are going to reap the whirlwind!

Europe is more enlightened but, out government is now pressuring them to accept our genetically altered imports by threatening a trade war unless they capitulate. WHAT A CROCK!

Walt
