I have had significant pain relief since taking Glucosamine and Condroitin, but am experiencing problems with my digestive track.

What are the known side-effects of taking these dietary supplements?

Does the cure become worse than the cause?

Dear Mary,

NO ONE has even considered that glucosamine/chondroitin is a "cure" for this condition. At best, it is a safe & effective way to help the symptoms & perhaps slow the progression.

When you are ready to learn how to understand your causes, & DO something about them, go to the FAQ link for this 'site & read about arthritis. Also, use the archives to do the same (be sure to read the 2 references recommended). If this seems like a lot of work, remember that DOING what you learn will be a LOT more work. Perhaps you are not ready for this yet.

As with most chronic conditions, the problem is not that we do not know how to get rid of them but in getting the person to DO what we know.

I stand ready to help you with this if you do your part. I know I am being blunt but I assume anyone on this BB is tired of "beating around the bush" and is ready for straight talk.

Walt

Dear Carolyn,

I have not heard of it being effective for FMS. Essential oils would likely work better.

HOWEVER, in the long run, the only thing that will work is the regular practice of skilled relaxation. In a high % of people, increasing the level of their intracellular magnesium will help as well.

Getting a deep, whole-body, therapeutic massage 3 times a week for 2 weeks would prove to anyone that the relaxation would work permanently. The only problem is that the massages would only last a few weeks to months & then would have to be done again. Eventually, the massages would not work--if that is all that is done.

Walt
