Grave's Disease Summary:

Grave's Disease was one of the very first chronic conditions directly linked to "stress". I can remember sitting in class as a sophomore in medical school and hearing the professor explain this to all of us. He even quoted Selye, who now is considered the top expert in the world in the area of how chronic stress-effect in the hypothalamus alters the signals sent to the thyroid.

Here it is, more than 40 years later and conventional docs still don't practice this. Apparently more money can be made treating the condition than teaching people HOW to help themselves. If there were a prescription that dealt with the stress-effect, it would have been the "treatment of choice" long ago.

ALL chronic thyroid conditions are precipitated by this same mechanism and which one shows up is based on the genetic pattern of that individual--NOT on the causes, which basically are all the same. See the glossary for "stress" and then go to the archives, the home-page, AND use the search engine

SO, the solution is to let the hypothalamus "catch its breath" and get on with managing the bodymind as it should. ANYTHING else is just "taping over the warning lights on the dashboard".

So far as is known, reversing the causes includes the regular practice of SR for 6-12 months. See the glossary for any unfamiliar terms. The addition of regular exercise and a healthy diet magnifies the effect of the SR.

By the way, surgery for the ocular effects of Graves is a classical example of taping over the indicator lights on your car's dashboard. How could surgery have anything to do with why these changes are happening?
