2nd try, Question regarding Graves Disease.

Posted by Teri on February 10, 2003 at 21:31:33:

I have read that some English Doctor treated Grave's disease with plain black tea. My question is, do you think that tea would help if used with SR, and wholefood diet?

Did you read the archives here on Graves disease? Black and green teas are better know for anti oxidant and anti cancer therapy than for graves.

My sister, who has Grave's Disease, thinks that Dr. Stoll is the Moses of medicine. She has read all of the archives (most of them aloud to me), has his book, and is doing all of the things he has recommended for thyroid problems. My question is about the addition of black tea to his other recommendations. My question comes from a conversation with a long time friend from England, who swears she was cured of her hyperthyroid condition at a clinic that used black tea as it's primary treatment. I saw a picture of her: protruding eyes, swollen face. She is in perfect health now.

Since talking with her I have read two articles and found other information on the internet about this method of treating Grave's Disease. I wonder what Dr. Stoll thinks of this practice.

Thanksk, Teri.

Sorry, no experience.

There are MANY things we still do not know about nutrition!

I will watch the "black tea" phenomenon with bated breath.

From what I know about "black tea" it makes no sense to me.

However, just last month it was reported that 200 mcg of selenuim a day helped control all forms of autoimmune thyroid conditions. That specific connection was not known before that either.

Thank you, I appreciate your honesty. I don't know if she will try the tea. Do you think it would hurt her? What about decaf tea? Isn't selenuim sulfur? I'll tell you one thing, your book has made my sister a lot less afraid. For that alone, I thank you.

Thanks, Teri.

ANY stimulant is best avoided with this diagnosis.

Selenium is a trace mineral and it is not sulphur.
