Post Thyroid FNB complications

Posted by
Loren Anders on March 13, 2003 at 00:59:35:

I have Graves Disease (which has been in remission
for 9 years).

Four weeks ago, I had a guided fine needle biopsy for a
tiny thyroid nodule picked up by ultrasound. It was
benign.

However... I have been in pain since the procedure. I'm
wondering if the doctor hit something he shouldn't have
because what should have been a relatively painful
procedure was the most pain I've ever experienced in
my life (I'm not a baby-- I've had my knee drained, I've
had a mylogram, etc). He injected local anesthesia, but
it didn't numb it a bit. I was wimpering on the table like
a five year old.

A day after, I got a wierd rash the shape of a V (from the
hollow of my neck up both sides to the ears). I had an
earache, headache, pain in the jaw, and stiff neck. It's
now four weeks later, and I still have this rash (it
doesn't hurt or itch, but it looks like a mild sunburn).

I showed it to my GP and an ear, nose, and throat
specialist. Nobody has a clue what it is. I still have
neck pain, and now pain into my shoulder in the front
muscle. All on my left side. Any idea what this could be
? I had blood work, and its all normal.. no infection.

Hi Loren,

I don't know much about rashes or biopsies, but some massage might help calm the muscles down.

Best wishes,

Hi, Loren.

It sounds like you have been depending upon the simplistic symptom repressing paradigm of the allopathic monopoly to take care of you. No matter how much black tape you put over the warning lights on the dashboard of your car, the underlying problems are still there and they will eventually find a more bothersome way to tell you that.

Go to the thyroid archives. Use the glossary for any unfamiliar terms. You have to start reversing why this is happening to you somewhere or your future will be more of the same.

Let us know what you learn.

Walt

I have absolutely NO CLUE what this means-- black
tape on dashboard?

Is it me, or was this all gibberish?

Hi Loren,
It sounds like Dr. Stoll hasn't a clue to what's wrong
with you and is trying to impress you with techno-speak
rather than simply admitting he doesn't know!

Hi Loren,

Think about it. What would happen if you put black tape over the warning light on the dashboard of your car? The car's problem would continue, you just wouldn't see the signal that something is wrong. This is what Walt feels happens in many cases when people take prescription medications -- they just cover up the signals that their symptoms are giving them. So what is needed instead, is to work on the cause of the car's trouble. Using the analogy of health, it means to do wellness practices to help strengthen a person's overall health. For information on how to do this, read the article on this website, "How to be Healthy."

Hope this helps.

Best wishes,
Happygal

Thanks,Loren.

Listen to Happygal.

I see no problem with using the black tape so long as you proceed to get the mechanic to check out why it was flashing. At least the annoying light would not be there in my face.

However, most people in our culture seem to think that "out of sight, out of mind" is enough and do not go beyond taking the symptom suppressing magic pill.

It is really your choice!

Shame on you JanetB.

Take a look at Happpygal's response. Anyone who participates on this BB actually has to at least TRY to think.
