I had many muscle problems after being place on Synthroid. My endo would not admit that Synthroid or even the thyroid had anything to do with it but after switching to Armour Thyroid I think it made a big difference. Your thyroid gland has a great impact on the activity of smooth muscles.

Hi, Helen.
One of the serious complications of thyroid surgery is inadvertant removal of the parathyroids which can be imbedded within the back side of the thyroid. This would cause serious problems and these symptoms would be the first.
You need to go with her to the doc and ask him to check her parathyroid function.
Let us know what you learn.
