About Armour thyroid

Posted by Connie on September 09, 2003 at 19:38:09:

Could some one tell me what is armour thyroid never have heard of it. I take synthroid just a small amount, I am wondering if maybe the armour would be better because when I forget to take it I feel much better that day? I have heard that synthroid was recalled once because it melted too fast mine starts to melt in my mouth before I can get it down. I am wondering if maybe they are the ones that they missed out on the recall.

Hi, Connie.

I felt the same as you. I stopped taking Synthroid quite a few years ago and started feeling better after that. Feel free to e-mail if you like.

Armour Thyroid is T-3 and T-4. Synthroid is a synthetic form of T-4. I agree if Synthroid makes you feel badly, and if your dose is very low you might try alternative methods to stimulate or regulate your thyroid gland.

Thanks, I am wondering how much synthroid were you taking, I take 0.05MG I am thinking very strongly about getting off mine but I don't want my doctor to know it. I tell him to check my thyroid ever time he checks my blood but don't believe he does it. My doctor that put me on them did it for about a year. I don't have much faith in doctors at all I believe they will do anything for money. My doctor now seems better than any doctor I have ever gone to.

I believe that is such a small amount that it doesn't matter if you take it or not. Sometimes I believe that some Doctors has money in the medication stock market and they just want to keep the medication that you take selling so they can make more money on their stock. I am wondering why so many people I talk to says they have never had their thyroid checked if it is so important. She had checked mine because she had thought it was over active and then when I went into the Hospital from a drug recation they then checked it again and said I needed thyroid medication because my thyroid was not furnishing enough thyroid. When I have ever been in the hospital it was always because I of the medication that had been given to me by a doctor, that is why I have little use for those doctors.

There's always the possibility that the blood test is not accurate either; especially the thyroid test may not be that reliable. Listening to your own body and any symptoms it reveals might be better.

I started taking Armour Thyroid back in the 80s. It worked great for about 10 years, and then they changed manufacturing plants and the inert ingredients. After that it didn't seem to work for me so I switched to Thyrolar. I took 1 grain for several years and then developed a sensitivity to the red dye and had several allergic reactions. I'm now using Westthroid and do great with it, plus it's only $8 for a 3-month supply and Thyrolar ws $85!

Connie
I was on 120mg of armour thyroid pills And have been off for one whole year. And my Doctor said I don't need it any
more. I have had a bad thyroid for 10 years. When I first came to this web site a couple of years ago Dr. Stoll Challenged me to find out how to get healthy. I also had heart problems which I no longer have thank goodness. But
I found a book that was wrote by an M.D. And she works with thyroid and diabetics and people that need to get healthy.
And it is one of the best wrote books on the subject that I have ever seen by following this I have been able to drop off the thyroid medication and in the deal my heart is better. The name of the book is

THE SCHWARZBEIN PRINCIPLE
BY Diana Schwarzbein,M.D. and Nancy Deville

She tells you in the book she believes people can get of their thyroid medication(not before they are ready)
so I put it to the test we did a lot of praying
and I stepped out and said I am going for it and I did it
and it paid off. So I am free. And I feel so much better
after getting of it than I ever felt on it hardly any of
my symptoms were relieved my hair frizzed out like I stuck
my finger in a light socket and stuck straight out,now it is so nice and soft and very little frizz. There are a lot of other symptoms but I think I had better not make this too
long. I hope this helps.
