Grave's disease update

Posted by bitsy [4530.74] on March 30, 2006 at 17:21:07:

I haven't been here for a while, and I thought I'd stop by and share my progress like I said I would. After four years of treating myself for Grave's disease and trying everything under the sun, here's what I've learned (thanks Doc!).
1. I need minerals, especially trace minerals, to feel better (I'm one of those people helped by drinking black tea. I think I learned that here, on the B.B.).
2. The Specific Carbohydrate Diet is effective in healing my leaky gut (on it one year now and doing very well). Dr. Stoll was the first person to point out that I needed to address this if I was ever to get well. I'm not completely well yet, but much better.
3. I have to work on how I deal with stress every day. I constantly remind myself to breathe, to rotate my shoulders, relax my jaw. I do stress relaxation at least once a day, twice when I can. Stress and autoimmunity go hand in hand. Stress can't be avoided, but how I deal with stress can be changed.
4. Dancing, writing, and playing all help me get better.

My eyes are round and the lids are still swollen, but much less. I don't avoid cameras any longer. I don't shake, sleep all night and never sweat. My digestive issues are all improving. My heart rate is normal. On my last check up I had a tiny bit of T4 present, a fact that is almost a miracle. I have not had any T4 in three and a half years, but there it was. I have lost twenty five pounds of fat and still losing (I am one of those who gained from my disease).

I still have my thyroid.

Thanks Walt!

Such wonderful news, thanks for sharing your testimony, the nutrition part is huge, as is the controlling the stress. juli

Hi Bitsy,

I can't help but think incorporating SR into your daily routine will help you improve, even more so.
Regardless, congratulations on what you have already achieved. It will be very helpful to others and give them hope.

Sharon

Are you still on anti-thyroid meds? If not, how long have you been off of them?

Thanks, Bitsy!

If you will continue what has worked you will still be seeing more improvements for the next couple of years!

In the very beginnng, I took beta blockers for three days. I stopped when my blood pressure went through the ceiling and I had to go to emergency to keep from kicking the bucket. I haven't taken any alopathic thyroid medicine since.

I know you are right. Whenever I can do SRx2, I feel much better.
