I have had Grave's disease for 5 years: it went into remission once, but has been back the last 2 years. My symptoms are relatively mild, but I can't seem to turn it around. I have chosen not to do conventional treatments, but am on a homeopathic medicine from a naturopath. I would very much like to connect with several people who have successfully turned the disease around and are back to full health. The website postings have been helpful, but I would love to have direct communication with those who have seen some victory. Thanks.

Hi Lynn,
My book, Graves' Disease, A Practical Guide, will be out next month and can be advance ordered through my publisher, www.mcfarlandpub.com or through amazon.com. I've included a chapter describing alternative medical options for treating GD, and I've included an anecdotal chapter detailing the accounts of several patients who achieved remission using natural means as well as conventional options. I can direct you to some of these patients, but unfortunately, I foolishly opted for RAI and sorely regret this. Most patients I've met who have achieved remission naturally have followed stress reduction methods, used herbal tinctures and homeopathic preparations, elimated foods that they're allergic to as well as wheat, dairy, red meat, alcohol, caffeine, saturated fats, and sugar. Since many of the symptoms in GD are caused by nutrient deficiencies, supplements are also essential, particularly copper, vitamins, E, C, D, B1, B6 and essential fatty acids.
