Hi.
First, I am extremely happy to find out that this site exists and that I have been able to read about other's experiences battling Graves and other diseases. I have spent a lot of time digging through the archives and they are awesome.
I was diagnosed with Graves 9 years ago when I was 17 after a bout with mono that my doctor said could have "triggered" the activity. Being young I learned absolutley nothing about it and eventually underwent the radioactive iodine treatment about 6 months later. I then became hypo, which seems to be the standard m/o, and have been on a steady dose of synthroid (225micg) every day since. I have lived in health and happiness and go months on end without even thinking about graves.
From those days 9 years ago to today, I haven't read or researched anything on graves, so I have a couple questions that someone may be able to help me with. First, I would like to stop taking synthroid at some point and would like to know how other people may have done this. Second, have other people experienced effects of metabolism changes like cronic bad breath or hair loss? I feel like I have noticed changes in the last year or two.
Let me also just say for the record, that I do not HAVE graves disease. I believe in the healing power of God and I know that His will is for me to live in perfect health and I stand on that. (may sound silly to say, but our words are powerful - written or spoken)
Thanks for any help!
Gregg
