Firmly rooted hair...positive effect from diet?

Posted by Fork in the Road on February 25, 2003 at 11:25:08:

Has anyone noticed after having been on the PWFD & Garden of Life's Perfect Food, that one's hair doesn't fall out like before? This is just great! My hair feels really planted in my scalp, and sensitivity in my scalp is gone. I can tug at my hair without any tenderness.

Makes me realize how poor my diet was before I took the path I'm on now....and my friends thought I had an excellent diet!

Did you have food allergies? That made my hair thin, fall out, and straw-like. .

I don't know of any known "Food allergies" confirmed by conventional allergy testing, however, I assume that I have a leaky gut & candida...and am treating myself as if I had both conditions. I feel much improved in the almost two months I've been doing the diet, etc.

I noticed a definite improvement in the condition of my hair as well. However, my boyfriend asserts that he has lost MORE hair since going with whole foods. He rarely cheats... well, he drinks coffee every day, alcohol on the weekends, and occasionally eats some Fritos... but that's it. His diet is much better than it was before I met him, I can tell you. His ADD is much better as well... the hair loss could be all in his head. He's 22 and very paranoid about losing his hair. It's either in his head, or perhaps it's because he hardly eats any protein. He is vegetarian, and the only protein he gets is in peanut butter... or I guess it could be a food allergy, who knows.

I'll bet you do/did because most people with Candida and leaky gut also have food allergies. Your comment about scalp tenderness was the one that rang a bell for me -- mine was quite tender after eating an offending food. When the tenderness subsided the hair loss stopped. Congrats and good luck.

PF - gray hair turning back to original color for me!

And what a testimonial that is! Unfortunately the hair isn't in a noticeable spot, however it is still amazing.

I saved one and had it taped to a piece of paper for the longest time. A half brown/half gray hair!!

I was on PF for over six months before I noticed this, and since I started using the PF tablets instead of the powdered form, I haven't noticed any more :sigh: The taste of the powdered form was so horrible for me - even when mixed in smoothies or juice.

Anyway, I had to eat my words (to quote me, they were "What an idiot!") after I saw the proof for myself.

Hi ~CT,

I have some of those hybrid hairs too! Not sure which leg of the wellness stool to attribute it to, but I'm now finding one about every week Looking at my hair, though, you wouldn't notice. It's still mostly grey. I hold out hope that my hair will revert to light brown before I'm too old to be prematurely grey ;-)

On the other hand, I do believe my hair loss is slowing down. I'm very pleased about that trend, along with many others benefits.

I wish they would make blue label Perfect Food in caplets. No way will I try that powder stuff. I can barely get the caplets down!

Wishing you the best,
Nutmeg

Get Out! For real? I figured that once a hair turned grey, the color making cells had expired for life.....facinating.

I don't mind the Perfect Food taste. I chug a glass full before breakfast and dinner. My BM's have turned a strange green color though. I hope that is normal and not a digestive deficit, considering the very green color of the PF powder.

Are you saying the perfect foods in capsule form made your hair back to brown but they powder form didnt?

Why would there be a difference between powder and capsule form?
