My 7 year old son is losing his hair he has 2 dald spots one of them the size of your hand the other the size of a 50 cent piece I have taken him to the Derm.and they put him on a shampoo mixture of rogain and retin A micro, and at night a medicine called Diprolene was to be rubbed in the bald spots.well we done this for 3 months and nothing his hair did not come back, and their final answer was Alopecia there is nothing we can do for it he will eventually lose all his hair. Dr.Stoll is there anything else it could be and any other forms of medication I can try to help his hair regrow?

another poster on her had a similiar problem with her son and it turned out the son was actually ripping the hair out of his head at night - it was some type of psychological thing. If your derm doesn't know what it is, maybe set up a camera in his room and see if he's causing this to happen?

I had thought of that, but the skin is not red or irritated and there is no signs what so ever of any regrowth.the bald spots started out really small and over a 2 year period it has gotten bigger.alot bigger

Not to say this is your problem... But, my niece which is 2, has drug addicts for parents. And, my mom now has custody of her and her brother, age 6. With all the stress of seeing her mother and father use drugs, get arrested, being jerked out of her home and put in a foster home... it has just been a mess...my little niece looked like she had the mainge (sp?) She was actually twisting and pulling her hair out when she would go to bed at night. Now that she is in a stable environment, her hair is growing back. My mother will catch her every so often twisting her hair around her finger and then she will start pulling. So, her's is definitely psychological. Is your child maybe stressed about something? I know with my niece, she likes "quiet". If it gets too loud, she starts on the hair. I can't think of anything else that causes it. I'm sure something could cause it like Thyroid. But, I would think a child would be too young for that unless it is inheritated.??? Hope this gives you a little insight.

Hi, Michelle.

Listen to Rachel and Susan.

First start by giving him a very short butch and making that be his style for a while (That will rule in or out his hair pulling.) All of my boys grew up with this kind of home haircut since we could not afford to send them to a barber.

Nest, start him on a strict whole foods diet (Explain to him that it will help his hair regrow.) Also start the "Perfect Food" (green lable) by gardenoflifeusa.com to speed up it's regrowth. A caplule of 100 milligrams of omega 3s, twice a day, would also help.

Let us know how he does.

Walt

Alopecia ariata is what the derm has said it was there is no cure for this so I am still looking for other causes that has a treatment.
