To Philly

Hey there,

I was cruising around the OT bb, and saw a post where you were
talking about hair loss with Vince. It was an old post, so thought I
would post to you here.

I went through this too, as my hormones dropped, but when I added
sea greens into my diet, I noticed that my hair was growing in quite a
bit thicker. Very noticeable. As well, I cut my long hair off about 2
months ago, quite short, and it seems to be helping as well. I pulled
a lot at my hair when it was long, combing, pulling it back, wearing it
back kind of tight in a twist or ponytail. I wondered if that had
something to do with it, as we age, pulling on it like that. I still lose
hair, but not like before, and the hair is about twice as thick on the
sides and top now. The back never thinned.

I eat Nori sheets, and then switch to Organic Kelp granules every few
days. 1/2 teaspoon of Kelp gives you your entire days iodine, plus it
binds to mercury. I add it to my soup. You can get the kelp at Whole
foods in a shaker container in the Salt/spice isle. The Nori sheets
have a great deal of calcium, and I watch that because it tends to
whack out my Magnesium levels and my heart can putter strangely
when I do that. So, I make sure I eat a lot of swiss chard with the sea
greens! Even add the swiss chard to my soup right before I eat it.

Hi dd:

Thanks for the info. I do use kelp drops, but not on a regular basis. The liquid is colorless and odorless.

I had tried seaweed flakes a long time ago, but couldn't get past the smell and the taste. How do your nori sheets taste?

Just curious as to the swiss chard. What does it do?

Hi lmd,

It is higher in Magnesium than other dark leafy veggies, so that
balances out calcium intake. Calcium and Magnesium compete with
one another and that can create irregular heartbeats. I think Walt has
archived info about intercellular mag in the archives, and that should
explain it better than I am doing here.

Oh, well I love Japanese food, so the smell and taste of most sea
"things" doesn't bother me. My Nori sheets taste very good! They
taste a bit nuttier than some other brands. I forget the brand name
right now. They had to reorder at the store. So I picked up some
other brand two days ago and it was less crunchy, more seaweedy
and sweeter. So they do vary. They are much easier to stomach than
the kelp. They kelp definitely changes my soups taste, big time, and
not for the better. :-) So, that is a drag, but a very easy way to get it
down. Kelp is the one thing I have tasted thus far that is tough for
me. But, doable. Wakame is actually the sea green that the japanese
use for lush hair growth and skin tone.
