severe headaches

Posted by Amy on May 12, 2003 at 01:49:47:

I'm 23 years old and i get severe headaches. The doctor did tests but found nothing wrong with me. The doctor put me on vicodin but the vicodin does not help. I even tried over the counter meds but nothing seems to work. These headaches i'm having are effecting my daily life. PLEASE if anyone can help by giving me some advice that would be great. Thanks so much

This may be a long shot, and I'm of course NOT a doctor, but I was
just reading that headaches can actually get worse if you use over
the counter headache medicines 3 or more times per week. It's
best to get a prescription. Since vicodin didn't work for you have
you thought about migraine medication? Also, I had a friend who
finally figured out after years of headaches that oranges were
causing them for her. Maybe it's food related for you, too?

Hope that helps!

Hi Amy,
I also have suffered from severe headaches. I would be going to sleep, waking and still have headaches. I'd take all different painkillers to no avail. I then went and did a course of accupuncture, (14 times). What can I say, a hugh difference. I rarely get headaches now and when I do, they are so mild I can go without a painkiller, or just relax and they diminish.
Hope I have shed some light. Take care

Hi, Amy.

No physician is going to resolve this for you. YOU are going to have to become an expert in your condition. I am presuming that is why you are here.

First of all read the home page about headaches and then go to the archives for headaches and for pain.

Let us know what you learn. By that time you should at least have a good idea what kind of headaches you have been having.

Walt
