Dear Walt,
I am looking for some advice to help me rid myself of health problems I have suffered for a few years.
I am 29yrs old. I have suffered health problems for the latter part of my twenties and have not received any help from the number of doctors I have seen and been sent to.
My symptoms range from stomach problems to mouth problems. Normally, I have a whitish coating in my mouth and a mettalic, blood taste in the back of my throat. At times, I find it difficult to take a drink of water. It feels as though I have swallowed a wad of cotton. I am barely able to taste anything I eat or drink. My sense of smell, which has always been good, has almost disappeared. I also burp constantly and have suffered from constipation for years. There was a time, a few years ago, when I did not have a BM for two weeks. I became quite ill, but survived. Sometimes I suffer from diarreah, not often. My BM's also smell, a sign, I think, that I have built up many toxins in my system resulting from constipation.
I am quite an articulate person and my mouth problem has hampered this. I am often asked to repeat myself due to the inability speak clearly. My job requires me to work on a phone all day. This is becoming difficult because talking is the last thing I want to do.
I have suffered from migranes and headaches most of my life. A couple of years ago I was diagnosed with a severe sinus infection. Every doctor I have gone to about the caoting in my mouth tells me it's my sinuses draining, or that it;s normal. I went to an ear, nose and throat specialist a few months ago who informed me my problems resulted from a small nasal passage(left side) and the coating was the result of too much toothpaste. He was more excited to find out my uncle is a respected pediatrician and sent me on my merry way, telling me I would have to suffer with this for the rest of my life. The coating in my mouth is driving me crazy.
I have been waiting to get in for a physical with my doctor. There is a three month wait. My appt. is in one month.
I am very frustrated. I become quite depressed when my symptoms worsen. I have no energy and my metabolism has slowed down to a halt. I don't eat often because the taste of food turns me off, yet I have gained weight because I have no energy to move.
I been prescibed loads of antibiotics for my sinuses. The only thing that resulted was my first, and only, yeast infection. I have tried Diflucan and Nilstat to help my mouth condition. It helped at first, but the problem always comes back full force.
Any suggestions?
I salute the light within you for your desire to help those of us who feel we have no one else to turn to.
Thanks.
Pam.

Hi, Pam.
Perhaps when your uncle sees you suddenly well, he will think about changing HIS paradigm about health as well?
You need to start this journey by changing your paradigm. Just the fact that you are on this BB is a good start in that direction. The quickest say for you would be to read a copy of my book through several times. In the meantime, go to the homepage and read the article about wellness and get started.
THEN, if you still have questions, write again. EVERYTHING you have listed here is caused by the same basic mechanisms.
As you become well, please share your experiences with the BB so others in your same boat will realize that they do not have to live that way.

Walt:
I "hear" your kind response to this lady in distress.
And/but We sometimes get so wrapped up in things that we forget to share the obvious. In this case, I would help (robot responder-like), but I don't have the answers for her at hand. So perhaps all I can do is raise more specific questions.
"What mechanisms?" is a question she may very well be asking just now. I'm thinking Bracing --> LGS --> CRS etc. but I could be waaaaaaay off in what you really meant.
"Which article on Wellness?" is another.
When I went to the home page to re-read that Wellness article (since I have not read it in a while, and it just might do me some good to re-read it!), I realized that there is not an article called "Wellness". I assume you meant to suggest the "Modern Medical Interpretation of Stress" or some other article, but I'm not sure exactly which one you mean by "Wellness". Sorry if it's right there but I just don't see it.
Perhaps there is a way to reformat (or rename, perhaps with subtitles) these articles so people will know immediatly which one they need to read. A thought, for whatever it is worth.

Dear Walt,
Thanks for responding so quickly. Yesterday was my first day on the BB and since then, thanks to your site, I have become much more educated about the mind and body.
I will be ordering your book shortly and look forward to reading it over. Yes, several times.
I developed a severe headache this morning. Normally I run to the med cabinet and pop a pill. A quick fix. However, I am fasting for blood tests and was unable to take the fix. I just finished trying *hot arms* and it has helped to ease my pain somewhat. It works.
Today I am feeling unwell, but you are right, being on the BB is a good start. The first step os realizing that the mind and body are one.
Thanks, I will keep you posted.

YUK!
Thanks, RHJ!
I could just see that article listing in my mind's eye. GEE! I surely hope you have something in the Glossary. I know there is one in the archives. Hopefully the search engine takes people to some as well. I know that in the early days I offered a free protocol for wellness (with references) for anyone who would send me a SASE and a request. I still get about one request a month so I know people are finding it somewhere.
I REALLY appreciate your pointing this out to me!!!!

Mechanisms?
Without more information I cannot narrow it down into specifics EXCEPT that she has severe "bracing" and the resultant LGS. Certainly C-RS might be there but the first things need to be dealt with first anyhow.
This is why I suggested my book to her. Her statements told me that she had no real idea that everything was related and that was the quickest way for her to learn the weblike relationship.
Thanks for keeping an eye on me.

Thanks, Pam.
The "hot arms" will only work for vascular headaches but that headache will be TOTALLY resolved. Many people have a combination of vascular and muscular headaches. Those people will see improvements with the hot arms but the muscular component will still be there.
SO, if there was any significant headache persisting, you need to do the massage series, Rolfing or Chiropractic to get relief from that. See the glossary for any unfamiliar terms.

Hi Walt,
Thanks for your insight. Much appreciated.
The headache came back later, full force. I seriously thought about going to the Chiropractor, but was too ill to get out of bed.
Do you suggest going to a Chiroractor when I don't have a headache, or go when I feel one coming on?
As for not understanding that all my symptoms are related, I have done quite a bit of reading since I first mailed you and I believe that, yes, they are related. I guess I always knew.
I once went to a Naturopath healer who told me I had waaaay too many parasites present in my body. She tried everything and couldn't determine why she couldn't help my body rid itself of them. She then told me about a parasite cleanse she does. A sure-fire way for me to cure myself. The cure? I was instructed to take 25 parasite cleanse pills at once. She told me I would need to stay near the washroom for a day. Nothing happened. So she *sold* me 50 more pills and told me to try again. This was quite costly. I was desperate for a cure. $400 later here I am, still suffering. She blames it on me, says I was blocking out any help and that my problems resulted from issues from my childhood. She helped at first, like everything else I've tried, but the problems always returned. I knew in my heart there was something else causing it, but didn't know where else to turn. Until now.
I know you will say it's because the root of my problems, LGS and CRS, should be dealt with first before I can enjoy any relief from my afflictions.
Through my hazed pain yesterday I picked up the phone and called your number. Ordered your book via air mail. I am certain it will help and didn't want to wait any longer to start my road to recovery.
Thanks again.

Hi, Pam.
The "root" of your problem (at least the one you can directly address right now) is total body bracing. This is why Chiropractic , massage series and Rolfing would help. In the long run, SR is the only permanent solution to this and the LGS causing your parasitic susceptibility.
Chiropractic would have to be done while you are feeling OK as would the massage and/or Rolfing. It is like "fixing the roof while the sun is shining". Even SR cannot be easily done while there is pain. Massage and/or Rolfing will help the pain when you have it but the relief will not be permanent. THAT is not why they are effective.
Interestingly enough self-hypnosis is the opposite. When people are in the most pain, they are the most successful at relieving it with self-hypnosis.
Your headaches will be pretty easy to resolve. Your LGS will take longer since it it a total body problem. Same basic causes but different response times.
By the way, although my book will help you understand how everything you have is related, it will not help you learn SR. It does have the same reference Listed on this 'site, so many times, but THAT is what you need to get going with SR.

Hi Walt,
Thanks.
Can you tell me where I can find detailed information on SR?
SR is referred to in so many of the posts, with little detail given.
Am I just missing it somewhere?
I am desperate. I have been missing work. Can't taste and having a lot of trouble talking comfortably. Most days I just want to hide from the world.
My uncle, the doctor, has tried to advise me that my problems are the result of allergies. I've had cats for 9yrs, but my problems only started about 3yrs ago. I think he's full of *you-know-what*. What are your views in regards to this?
Much appreciated.

Pam:
In our Glossary (to which there is a link at the top and bottom of every single post here) is a short description of SR - Skilled Relaxation and links to the SR Archive, plus links to two good web sites on specific forms of SR. The way that Walt recommends people determine and practice the best form of SR for them is to see the book: (The) Relaxation & Stress Reduction Workbook. Yes there is a link in the Glossary for this book. This book covers a miriad of SR techniques such as: Biofeedback, Meditation, Self Hypnosis, Silva Mind Training, Autogenics, Breathing Techniques, and several more.
Your question on SR is a little troubling. We have gone to no small effort to make this information available period, not to mention easily accessible using the Glossary, Search Engine, etc. And yet such a question like yours is so frequently posed here. If you have a suggestion on how we could have made it easier for you to have found what you were looking for, please share it with us.
Hope this helps!

Pam.
You know, of course, that 95% of all hypersensitivities are caused by LGS, and that bracing secondary to stress-effect is the most common cause of LGS. SR is the only yet known way to reverse this mechanism.
You can go to the glossary, homepage, archives or search engine for leads about how to do SR.

RHJ,
Yes I can spell GLOSSARY. Oops, I missed the link and found it shortly after mailing Walt. I didn't expect that you would mail back in such a rude manner. I will watch my P's & Q's from now on.

Pam:
Glad to hear you found what you were looking for.
No rudeness was intended. Walt, Bill, I, and others are continually looking for ways to make it easier for people to "get" what is offered here. My request for suggestions how to improve that process was genuine.
Sorry if you took any of it as rudeness, since none was intended.

RHJ++,
Thanks. Appreciate your candor. I am doing my best to search for info Walt, Bill and you advocate. I am a computer novice and am doing my darndest to figure out how to use it. I'm sure you weren't aware of this and I wasn't aware of the umpteen people who have previously asked the same question I did.
Chalk it up to a misunderstanding and move forward.
