TESTIMONIAL: "Hot Arms"

A while back I posted about Migraines. It was suggested that I try the Hot Arms Method. I think I have that right... Basically inserting your hands and arms into hot water... as hot as you can stand. This was to relieve the headache.

I had the opportunity today to try it when my wife felt a migrain coming on. Worked instantly and like a charm. She was laughing because it was so dramatic and relieving.

Read up on it and try it!

Hi Ted,

I'm unfamiliar with this method, never even heard of it. Do you think shock from the heat of the water caused the headache to vanish? If so could very cold water work as well?

I can think of no other reason the water would work on headaches other than the shock value.

Hi Ted,

That makes sense.. it would likely cause the body to constrict all blood vessels and relieve the migraine.
Who would have tought that getting into hot water could be so helpful?

Something for the memory bank. :)

Well apparently (as I read on this forum) the hands / arms often exist in the opposite state of vascular dialation or contraction as the brain. If the hands are constricted, the brain / head is dialated and vise versa.

So the theory continues that if you immerse your hands / arms in the hot water, you expand the blood vessles in your arms and constrict those in the brain.

Again, I gathered all of this from this forum. You can do a search and read up. I'm just delighted that at least this time it appears to have worked.

Thanks, Ted.

What will her docs do for an income now, poor things? They could have told her this years ago.

OK, I get it now. Must have missed the earlier posts on this.

Thanks Ted, I'll try it next time I feel a migraine coming on.

D,

Look at the headache article on the home page for how and why this works.

Let us know what you learn.

Right on Ted.

This is a biofededback principle. Once the individual has done this several times they can go sit in the corner and imagine exactly what this felt like and stop the headache that way. Takes exactly the same length of time. Saves finding a sink!
