Headache

Posted by Gail on February 03, 2001 at 19:22:30:

I have a question concerning headaches.I went to the doctor 10 days ago with headache,blood-shot and sore eyes.Diagnosis was sinusitis, given Augmentin, decong.and mild analgesic. Was no better after 3-4 days, headache seemed worse with some nausea. Was given stronger pain medicine. One week later, my head was still hurting, also my eyes were red and sore, neck muscles tense. What do I do? Return for more antibiotics, what? I have to get some relief. It is affecting my whole life!

Hi Gail,

Is the headache throbbing or steady? There are a few things I would do if I were in your situation. First and foremost, I would go to a competent chiropractor and get adjusted. (You may need more than one visit.) Secondly, I would find a good masseuse to get some of that tension out of your muscles! Have you recently changed what you are doing in your life? For instance, do you now have to sit and work on a computer for extended periods or other types of activities that are a strain on the body? Try to identify what factors may have caused this all to start, and get rid of those factors if possible or moderate them.

I, personally, would not touch antibiotics in this case. Instead of taking decongestant pills, try instead using Afrin nose spray (or generic store brand). Please be certain you are running your humidifier all the time!! This will help not only your current condition but also prevent future sinus problems. Use the links to the archives and the articles on health to find out more. I hope you feel better very very soon!

I have had a long, horrid, history with headaches. Headaches of ever type, in every inch of my head....

Started when I was in Middle school (some 17 years ago) when I had my first migrain... BAD pain, light sensitvity. Over the years my migrains got fierce... floaters in my vision lead to losing my sight temporarily (well if you can call a half hour temporary)...losing feeling in my face hands and feet. But never nausea.

Then into high school my back started 'bothering me'. NEver pain really... always a feeling when being still that things didn't fit right. The best I remember explaining it back then was that I felt like I had one to many spines for the length of my body's skin length.

I saw D.O.'s who attempted gentle adjustments of my spine... and Chiros here and there.

After going months (in high school) with a 24/7 low to medium grade headach and frequent migrains.... and taking strong drugs.... I hated life.

I continued on this way for a long time.... the low/medium grade headaches came and went... still had migrains.

Then after having both my kids I figured I was going to seriously start with a Chiro... and it helped, a lot.

But then we moved and I interupted everything... had only been going for about 2 months (starting out at 4 days per week and gradually backing off).

After moving I had to start all over again. I found a good chiro who diagnoised that I had one leg slightly shorter than the other, had me start with chiro 5 days a week for 2 weeks... then down to 3... etc AND got me inserts for my shoes so that my shorter leg had a lift.

5 months into it I go every 2 weeks and my back feels the best it ever has. Not perfect but man, what a difference. AND my daily headaches are for teh most part gone and I have not seen a migrain in a while. I actually fell off a ladder one day and wacked my head and felt my neck mis-alin. That night I could feel it as if something was touching a sensitive nerve with a hot pin... and started with the floaters and tingling in the limbs/face. I immediately put ice on my neck... and though it didn't STOP the results it greatly reduced it, and I only took 2 ibuprofin... when in most cases I was grabbing some narcartic to 'numb' the episode.

Anyhow.... check into chiro. I have a friend who complans of scatic pain AND daily headaches and I am trying to get her to go. I swear by it. The chiro will do Xrays and explain to you what they find. If that ISN't the cause you will know it... and if it is possibly the problem you will save your self of the headaches.

when I experience that... it has always been a vertebrae outa place, and my chiropractor

finds the culprit....and with a quick easy manipulation
(not neck cracking) it has ALWAYS been cured

The chiropractor saved me from the last 10 years of migraines. It's amazing to realize the workings of your body all come down to your vertebrae and what's encased in them!

Thanks, arh.

It IS surprising how many times Chiropractic resolves something the allopaths have failed to help, isn't it?

Namaste`
