I have been diagnosed with having a Lipoma int he 3rd ventricle of the brain. All I hear from my doctor (neurosurgeon) is that it is a very dangerous area to mess with and that it is better left alone. I also have massive headaches and none of the medication seems to take them away completely, they just hang around in the background. I also have a lot of numbness throughout my body, but again, my doctor says that he has no idea why and that it is not linked to the tumor. I have never had this before, and now I have had it every day since the 25th of Jan. 2002. Any ideas? Is it really a dangerous place to operate? Thank you.

Hi, Bobbie Jean.
If you have not had a second opinion, I would get one.
I agree with your doc that this is not causing your headaches and, if it were me, I certainly would not have the surgery because it is not going to change your symptoms!
I believe you need to forget about the lipoma and concentrate on finding out about what kind of headaches you have and dealing with those causes. See the headache archives and let us know what you learn.
