Dr. Stoll, I have had problems with hemorrhoids of and on for several years; however, after the birth of my third child 2 months ago I have not been able to get rid of them. My second child is a 17 month old little boy and about 25 pounds, I also teach aerobics which the impact irritates them and the lifting makes them worse. By the way, I was able to deliver vaginally after having a c-section with my little boy due to him being positioned face up. Thanks to your website I researched and was wonderfully successful. Just left with an irritating problem of hemorrhoids; however, I would do it again to keep from having surgery. At what point do you face the surgery with hemorrhoids? I will try all measures prior to that option.

not due to childbirth but to everyday work type stresses, one of the most important things I was told was to stop all heavy lifting activity - that is very irritating on the hemm's when you strain to lift or strain to push bm's. The exercise is good for you - keeps your blood moving and circulation going which is good for the hemm's. Sitz baths with salt water and camimol suppositories along with eating the right things (no nuts or spicy foods, tomatoes, dairy, etc..) all helped mine to go away. I unfortunately ended up with a much worse problem called an anal fistula that I did have to have surgery on which was hell but post healing now about six months and I'm as good as new.
Good luck! and it would be best to go to a colorectoral surgeon versus your day to day practitioner (sp?). My day to day doctors really didn't understand enough about the "colon" and what it was all about. It was my colorectoral specialist who ultimately helped to heal me.

Hi, dstone.
I had one of the worst cases of hemorrhoids I have ever seen in 30+ years of practice. Within 6 months of practicing serious SR, they were all gone and have not recurred for 30 years.
I also kept doing the things that help: the appropriate dose of Mineral Oil (see archives for protocol), psyllium seed (sufficient to prevent EVER having a constipated stool) AND digitally pushing the hemorrhoids up past the anal sphincter after each bowel movement, at the same time.
Let us know how you do.
By the way, I had done all the "helpful" things for years and just kept them kind of under control. It took the SR to finally heal them. See the hemorrhoids archives.

Thanks for the tip. I will get to work researching SR and I am real familiar with the protocol on the fiber and MO combination. My daughter was a Stool Withholder so I shouldn't be surprised I have some of the same issues. :) With a 2 month old, 17 month old and a 4 year old, any type of relaxation would be wonderful. Sleep would even be good. :)If stress is a key factor in this then within the last six months we have moved to a new town, my father passed a way unexpected in May, a new baby in May, a wedding in July some of the top stressors all in 6 months.

Thanks, dstone.
And just think: all of the stressors you have mentioned are only contained within the top 10% of all the stressors your bodymind knows about.
