Hernia

Posted by Robin on November 10, 1998 at 16:10:02:

Actually it's a weak ring, the muscles around the groin but I'm sure it could and maybe without some help, will become a fully blown hernia. What I ask is how these muscles can be strengthened and/or repaired. I prefer natural remedies but whatever works is acceptable

Dear Robin,

For this knd of information I would bow to the superior knowledge of Doc Dave and Chiropractic. If he doesn't have the nutritional info, I would suggest a good Naturopath for that.

Let us know what you learn.

Walt

To be honest I have absolutely no idea. The inguinal canal is made up of muscle tissues that wrap ends to make a tube. If this area can be strenthened or not, I don't know.

I will look through some books but your case is out of my realm.

Best wishes!

Dear Doc Dave,

I was hoping for another of your insights to save us from surgery.

There are nutritional things that imcrease the tensile strength of muscle tissue. In my practice in Lexington, I would refer early hernia cases (who wanted to avoid surgery) to the Naturopath for this information. I never bothered to learn it for myself since I still naively believed that, so long as our patients were doing so much better than conventionally treated patients, eventually the powers that be would want to know why. Instead they drove me out of practice so they wouldn't have to live up to the "competition". NOW, I wish I had learned more at the time.

Any hernia that has progressed to the place of a palpable bulge really needs surgery. This is an outpatient procedure now----as it should be.

There is plenty of research supporting the fact of accelerated post surgical healing with high doses of vitamin C & E and about 100 milligrams of zinc a day. All of this stuff should be taken for a couple of weeks prior to surgery and about 6 weeks after.

Thanks again, Walt
