I searched for juicer to make Ginger Juice. All juicers are only for fruits. I couldn't put Ginger in there. I wonder how others make ginger juice. Currently, I cut the ginger in pieces, and grind it using my teeth. Manual juicer! I am on this only for past 4 days. Is it a effective method or should I look for specific juicer?
Thanks a lot.
Dr. Walt: Your site is wonderful. You are a great man. Thank you!

Someone on the board once suggested a garlic press.

I use my food processer. After it chops up the ginger, I strain the pulp. It works great.

Thanks, Mark.
You are brave to do the ginger this way. It will work but the sensation!!!! I would be concerned that the local (mouth) sensation would keep you from getting enough juice to the esophagus.

Thanks everyone for the reply. Sherrie: Do you add water when you put the Ginger in the food processor? I chopped the ginger, but there is no juice though. Thanks again.

I don;t own a juicer and tried the garlic press and chewing but could not get any juice out it. I have bought ginger root 5 times in the past and all has no juice in it. How do you tell if they are fresh? They looked ok but no juice.

I make ginger tea every morning by just adding 1/4 teaspoon of powdered ginger to hot water. I guess it's an acquired taste but I like it and it's so much cheaper to make it this way than to buy the ginger tea bags. My question is, is there any medical benefit to having ginger tea?

I guess you'd have to ask The Professor, Maryanne, The Skipper and Gilligan...

Hi, Denise.
The heavier, the fresher and the more juice there is in them.
What I would do (if I had no friends with juicers) is wait till closing time at the local health food juice bar and go in with my #2 of raw ginger root. I would say to them that I will clean their juicer at the end of their day if they will let me juice my roots just before they are done for the day. The chances are that they will take you up on it.
Juicers are juicers BECAUSE they are so much more efficient at extracting the juice than all the other alternatives you mentioned. There should be a lot of good used ones on the internet services.
Let us know how you do.

I haven't gotten an answer as to whether powdered ginger used as a tea has any medical benefit. Does anyone know what ginger does for you?

Not me.
An Herbalist might know.
