OK, I've seen preserved ginger listed as acidic and dried unsweetened ginger listed as alkaline. I'm going to attempt the GRJ 3 week trial but I'm thinking, 'Isn't this stuff going to be acidic?' It's very powerful and seems it would exacerbate any symptoms. Also, is there a replacement such as ginger pills/capsules that would do the same or is it just squeezed ginger juice? BTW, talk about blood from a turnip. I had to run a lot through the garlic press to get about one tablespoon. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm confused.

Only the fresh squeezed ginger juice will do. You need a juicer like the Juiceman II to get the juice out properly. Also, you need to choose the heavier roots. Try to peel a little of the skin back and make sure the root is yellowish, not white. I just bought 3 lbs of ginger to make some pickled ginger and ginger ale with and I found that the heavier, yellow pieces have more juice.
Below is a website that tells you about the juiceman II. It specifically says its good for ginger.

Hi Don,
If you don't juice normally try to find a used juicer. You can find little ones too. Sometime back someone posted about a concentrated ginger juice bought in a health food store. That worked for the person posting. Also, I have friends that have drank ginger ale. Its worth a try. BUT, the REAL GRJ is really the best way to go.

Don:
Rather than buy a juicer, I found a juice bar in town that will juice it for me. Including the 2 lbs of ginger which they supplied, the juice cost me $5. Look for vegetarian restaurants in town, or ask your local health food stores if they know of a place to have it juiced.
I posted before about a particular kind of ginger ale working for me, but the effect of the juiced ginger is so dramatically better (at least it was for me) the inconvenience of finding a source for juicing seems miniscule.
Good luck,
Laura

Hi Laura,
I remember your post about the ginger ale. Thats a great suggestion. Especially since you can freeze ginger.

Hi, Don.
Check it with litmus paper and let us know. I do NOT know.
All I do know is that it works and is a LOT less dangerous than any prescription drug.
Listen to Laura, Barb & Donna.
