Hi,
Would like to hear from those that found relief with ginger juice therapy.
I realize that no one really knows why this works, but is it just making symptoms? Meaning, is there still damaging reflux going on and the ginger juice is just anesthetizing the esophagus?
Thank you for your replies.

I make ginger tea. Occasionally, I will juice it. I find both work well for me. The ginger tea is very soothing to my belly, and also seems to wake me up in the morning.
Also check the archives. There is tons of info. on ginger juice in there.

The ginger juice is just helping relieve the symptoms while you try to fix the actual cause of the problem. Gerd can be caused by many things, and you'll need to figure out what it is. Certainly LGS is one. For me, the ginger helped, but a year of whole foods and SR didn't end gerd. I had to give up grains for a few months before the reflux totally went away.

Hey Billy:
I think the Ginger juice is fabulous! I have resistant silent GERD (meaning 80mg of Prilosec didn't touch it and the doctor gave up). Even very strong ginger ale was more effective for me than the astonishingly expensive Prilosec and Nexium were. But best of all was the fresh ginger, juiced for me at a juice bar in town. I haven't been able to embrace the taste yet :), but it certainly resolved my symptoms.
And this, my favorite of Dr. Stoll's pithy quotes, has also been helpful for me: "If you're having trouble swallowing, maybe there's something you just can't swallow". That's a broad paraphrase, but the gist of it for me was that I should look for reasons in my life that I'm grinding my teeth and clenching my throat muscles and can't even swallow like a normal person for heaven's sake. Unfortunately I can't get rid of the stressors in my life, but I can acknowledge my physical reactions to them and work to change that. Yoga (even a really limited amount)has also been of inestimable help to me with minimizing and hopefully reversing what I'm doing to my body because of stress.
Good luck to you!
Laura
