Sever GERD Please help

Hello Everybody,

I 've been facing GERD symptoms for past 7 months. My life has turned into disaster since i got GERD and i'm losing hope now. I'm taking Pariet(Aciphex, proton pump inhibitor)10mg (2 tablets daily) but the medicine is not helping. Some of symptoms are 1) The most severe is the lack of breathing. Its like i'm not getting enough air or the same feeling when you overeat and cant breath properly. Sometimes i feel no air is going through my nose. I feel pressure building up inside my stomach sometimes followed by burping gas. 2) Food paticles get stuck in my throat and chest. Cant eat food without drinking water with it, which washes and clears my throat and chest. Food particles keep on coming back in mouth. Eating less diet and losing alot of weight. I think improper diet and not knowing what to eat is causing me hell lot of stress. I have give up drinking juices and carbonates drinks. Only drink a glass of milk 3) Water or Liquid get accumulated in my mouth particularly when my stomach is empty or when i wake up in the morning. My gums are getting affected. 4) Sour throat, having the feeling that the whole passage from stomach to throat is getting smaller day by day which scares me alot.

I can clearly feel that the valve above my stomach remains open all the time allowing food, acid, and other liquids coming up and affecting my breathing. I went for endoscopy twice but procedure could not be completed becoz i could not swallow the camera tube. Doctor has recommended for test regarding the shortness of breath. I'm losing weight constantly and dont know what to eat and drink, cant do excercise due to weight loss. Due to GERD i'm unable to perform my daily duties properly and becoming more like a disable person. Cant imagine a life with shortness of breath, bloating, less diet, no excercise, dirty breathing, sticky and sour throat, throwing up food etc.

I'm going to try ginger juice but if you have any other suggestions, kindly let me know. I cant imagine living rest of my life like this and I have gained a lot of respect for people having chronic diseases like GERD, asthma etc, I think these people are very brave coz they are dealing with these issues on daily basis and not giving up.

Good Bless you All,
Regards

-cheeta

You described me perfectly a few years ago. Try the ginger juice and stick with it and hopefully it will give you some relief. Read the archives here on GERD. You could have any number of things causing these problems. Stress is definitely the underlying cause (although anxiety/depression could be the underlying cause of the stress). You may be intolerant of gluten or dairy or eggs, etc. You're drinking milk and may not realize you're dairy intolerant. If you have become intolerant of different foods, it is because stress has ripped up your insides. Now, to get well, you need to deal with both the underlying
causes of the stress, and the damage it has done to your insides to make you intolerant of different foods.

If I was you, I'd give up grains and dairy for the short term to see if that helps, but I'd also work with a holistic doc to help you figure out what you'll need to do (other than the 3 legs of the wellness stool, as described on this website). You could have problems with mercury, candida, endocrine gland malfunction, etc. (all of which may now have surfaced due to stress). You have a long ways to go and a lot of work to do, but the answers lie within this website and you can get better. I'm not anti-drug for some things (I'm currently taking a drug for anxiety/depression), but I would run away quickly from any doc who thinks aciphex is going to help you with GERD (and eventually they'll probably recommend surgery for your lower esophageal sphincter muscle - the valve). I once had the same advice and I'm glad I ran away from it.

I'm currently working with a counselor for anxiety/depression issues, and there is no doubt in my mind that it was the main reason I got sick. I ate, drank, obsesssed, etc., over many things because of a toxic upbringing that eventually led to GERD. I had to get rid of the gerd through a wellness approach and still be sick with other digestive issues before I could see the real culprit was the emotional baggage I carried with me at all times. From discussions with hundreds of people and research of other websites and books, I have found that it is highly common for people with GERD to have similar background issues.

Hope this helps, and good luck.

Hi Tried,
Thanks alot of your reply. You were right about the stress thing, i have been through alot of stress in my life and my stomach used to get upset whenever i was tense due to some reason. I would also try giving up dairy products and wheat but wondering if rice is an alternative. I eat indian food and since wheat bread is an integral part of it, it would be hard giving it up but i will try my best.

Plus, I was wondering if you could give me your email address. I would like to keep in touch with you regarding GERD since nobody in my social circle has this kind of problem. If you dont want to post it on message board, you can send me the email by clicking on my name.

Thanks again, and GOD bless you!!!!!!!

take care,
-cheeta

Besides changing your diet and drinking the GRJ, start SR right away. Do it at least 3X a day. The SR will help with your stress level. Besure and read up SR in the glossary. It will explain it much better than I can do. Everyone who begins wellness should make SR the number one priority. Check out the website for brainsync. You can download a sample of their cd for relaxation. Hope this helps you out. www.brainsync.com

hi, ive had severe gerd since jan 1st(well i was "diagnosed" then), put me in the hospital on new years and ive been battling this ever since virtually everyday. you do not wanna drink milk at all, even the doctor at the emergency room told me this, it will only aggrivate your gerd worse. read about the sr here and its good your gonna proceed with the ginger root protocol. iknow youre not feeling good right now but try and excercise, just start a little ata time and gradually progress. if you drink as in alcohol give that up also, give it up completely! also if youre gonna eat at night wait atleast 2 hours before you go to sleep. do not lay down for atleast an hour after you eat.

do not let this break you mentally inside. it did it to me the first couple months i had this when i was in really bad shape. dont let it do it to you as well becuz itll only make it worse on you. instead just be persistent in trying to get better and be positive in your mind. if you stay strong you will see gradual improvement. its now been 7 full months since ive had this, im far from fully healed but im alot better than i was 7 months ago and continually getting better and better. youre gonna have some small setbacks along the but again just persist and be strong. best of luck!

john

I saw on another healthboard where a magnesium supplement erased GERD for someone else.
