GERD

Posted by Filix on August 21, 2003 at 11:43:48:

Question, my doctor has recommended not eating for 3 hours before I go to bed. Then I sleep for 8 hours. That's 11 hours without eating! When I wake up, I'm starving and my gerd is in full production. What's the solution?

Hi Filix:

Maybe you could ask your doctor that if GERD is caused by eating, then why aren't we all suffering from it after we eat?

I'm thinking that maybe it's not the eating itself that's causing GERD, but what is being eaten.

Hi Filix,
Ginger juice is recommended for GERD. Look in the glossary/archives and you will find lots of information on the subject. Ginger juice really works, you will see this in the posts in the archives. I think the root cause of GERD is Stress and diet. Doctors now are looking at GERD as a disease. A disease that they treat with more pills. All one has to do is change their diet, deal with the stress and GERD will disappear.

Thank you for the comments from Barb. She suggested ginger juice. As a matter of fact, ginger ale is the only carbonated drink I can handle. I recommend it to all GERDers!

Ginger Ale is a good way to get the ginger. If that isn't strong enough for you Felix, try making ginger tea with fresh ginger. Just grate some ginger in hot water and drink as a tea.

Hello,

I have a bad case of chronic gas and am learning how to deal with it slowly as I go along. Other than peppermint tea, does ginger tea work? Is it suitable for me?
thks.

Hi, Filix.

It is interesting that you should suffer from a lack of glucose buffering in your blood (overnight hunger) as well as GERD. Both are caused by bracing.

The word breakfast really means "break fast". That means that it is universal that fasting over night is a healthy thing to do.

Learn how to get rid of your bracing (archives) and both Your GERD and the overnight hypoglycemia will be vastly improved.

The Atkins diet would resolve your overnight symptoms for a while--while your reversal of bracing is working.

Let us know what you learn and how you do.

Walt

Hi Ericia, I dont think GRJ is for gas. Have you tried enzymes? What type of diet are you following?
