chronic hives

Hi Dr. Stoll,
I am new to your site and am going to try to make this a not too indepth of a message but would like to share w/ you my situation, though you have heard it time and time again in other posts. I have browsed the archives and looked around some but time on the pc is very limited for me as I have a 29 mon. old daughter that demands alot of my time. So, I don't get on as much as I'd like to, to do the research that I need so much.

First of all, I think that this is a wonderful site that you have built here and from the sounds of the archives that I have read, you have made some very miserable people out there very happy once again through the power of skilled relaxation. I am definately going to buy this book and I am sure that you may even recommend the book for diets for me. Right now, I can't think of what it is called but you know what I am talking about. I commend you for being the kind of md. that we all need in the fact that you suggest a pill for this and a pill for that.

O.K. here is my situation.

I am 35 yrs. old and I have been a victim of chronic hives for 8 yrs. It will be 8 yrs. in June. I started to get them in June of 95' after my grandfather passed away in Apr. that year. This was an extremely detrimental time for me and I admit that I didn't handle it worth a darned. But I have dealt w/ and have accepted his passing just like you do w/ any other loved one that passes on but one thing still remains and is my constant reminder of a time that isn't so pleasant for me. I don't understand why they are here and what their purpose is but I have come to terms w/ the fact that they are apart of me and so now I don't get so upset when they appear. I have been to 2 diff't dermos and an allergist. The allergist never was of any help b/c I could never stay off the anti-histamines not even for one day; let alone 4. I like everyone else thought at first it was a bug biting me; detergent allergy, dye or what not. Nothing seemed to make a difference and after about a year of no answers from the doc's I knew that they were here to stay and to make my life a living hell.

Reading your archives here have given me a sense of comfort and have at least given me the hope that maybe there really is light at the end of the tunnel and that maybe someday I can live day to day and not have to worry about whether or not I remembered to take my pills or whether or not I have them on me when I leave the house. It seems after so many years of having them it seems like they have just always been here.

I get them from head to toe. Huge wheels, some look like scratches, some are small and have the appearance of maybe a pimple at first and some are just beat red. I have had them in my eyes, throat, my tongue has swollen, I have had them inside of my ears daily for a long time. The only place that I have never had them is the genital area. But have had them on the pelvic bone. If I don't take my pills in a good amount of time after they start to show up, you could literally write words on my back. How nice? Kinda like the exorsist....I get them every day of my life and have for this whole time. From the very beginning. Most people that I read have said that they just get them after a hot shower or exercise. Not me. I get them no matter the time of day and I have even woke up from a good nights sleep and had them. I would think that if it was from lack of sleep that they wouldn't be there right when I wake but maybe I am not going into a deep sleep, I don't know. I do get them really bad if I am over heated but not limited to just heat. I have noticed that if I am worked up over something I get them. If I get scared, excited, or just nervous they will appear if I don't have my pills in me. Tight clothing will bring them out and the bra is the worst.

Well, that is about it in a nut shell and I know that you are going to recommend the SR book and workbook. Is there anything else that I should do in addition to these 2 things? I really am up for any suggestions. If you told me that I could eat a bucket of spiders and it would get rid of them....I would probably do it. It might take a 12 pack but I think that I would have to do it. And I hate them!

Thank you for listening to my story and answering my questions. I'm really not sure where to go to find my answer to my post. Will it be in the hive board?

Keep up the good work and I will definately let you know how it all turns out after I do the SR.

Sincerely,
Sherry

Hi, Sherry.

Welcome to the 'site!

One "bucket of spiders" will probably be enough :o).

I think you need to start with a comprehensive stool analysis at GSDL and 5 purged stool specimens at the same lab.

Something this severe will have to addressed in "layers".

There IS "light at the end of the tunnel"!

I hope, as you get over this, you will share your experiences with the BB participants.

SR certainly will be an essential part of the resolution of this but I think, after this long, you have complications that will need to be addressed. SO, getting started with that would not be a bad idea.

Walt

Hi Dr. Stoll,

Thank you for such a quick response. You must not ever sleep! Be careful. The hives will get you too!

OK...you will have to clear something up for me if you can. What is GSDL? And what are 5 purged specimens?

Do you think that maybe I have a paracite? Just wondering.

Thanks again!

Sherry

They will check your stool for candida and other parasites.

I had hives at one point in my life but never as bad as yours...I would also get them wnen I got nervous or upset and sometimes I couldn't figure out why I got them...

It will help you tremedously to read Dr Stoll's book and also the archives here (sounds like you found the hives archive).

The ARticles on Health are very helpful too - How to be Healthy, Sugar and Immunity, The Modern Medical Interpretation of Stress...

The Glossary will be helpful to you too...Look up Bracing and follow that entry to the information it will lead you to.

It will help you a lot to understand how your body's immune system functions. Then of course, follow Dr. Stoll's suggestions and try to incorporate as much of the 3 legged stool into your life as you possibly can...it works!!

Good luck,

~~~8>
Hi Sherry, I too have chronic hives just like you and I tell you I get a lot of sleep , Because of the antihistimes make me tired. I use to take claratin and it worked great but it dried me up so bad that I got sinus headaches as well , I still do just not as bad . I am going to do what Dr Stoll recomended and see what happens if you want to email me write back maybe we can share differant ideas. I know this is soo frustating I had my hives for 12 years now and had been in the hospital for them also. but good luck I hope both of us can get rid of these things soon . Ps same as you I cant get tested because of you have to be off antihistimes for 24 hours. so I do know what you are going through.thanks
I, too, have chronic hives but not nearly to the extent you
have. SR has helped, but taking magnesium glycinate
has really made a difference for me. Another thing that
has greatly helped is massages. I feel that in my case,
however, it was being magnesium deficient that was
the big thing. Read up on magnesium in the archives
here and also check magnesium deficiency on the
Internet search and you will find a lot of info.
Thank you to everyone for posting and even though it seems that noone that I have talked to has had them as bad as me, you all still know what a pain it is and how aggravating it can be to not know why you are getting them. I am going to read up more on all just as soon as I can get on the pc for more than just a couple of minutes. Thanx again.
Sherry
