Dear Dr. Stoll,
On a summer weekend (before 5 months) after I mowed the lawn and sprayed multipurpose insect killer (Ortho) in my backyard hives broke all over my body. I had sore throat a day before and I had taken two Benedyrl. The Throat culture came negative.
Then I went to see an Allergist and the scratch test was negative. On first intradermal test I was positive to Grass Pollen(+ 2)and House dust(+ 2). All blood test results were normal. This doctor wanted to put me on immunotherapy for pollen for 3 years. I was not convinced with that so I saw another allergist. He suggested some more blood test and everything came normal.
Currently I take Allegra (180) in the morning and a Zyrtec in the evening. Allegra seems to be working 80% but looses its power along with Zyrtec (which I take in the evening) at night time and I find hives all over my body when I wake up in the morning.
I have tried every possible thing including alternative
medicines. I am also taking homeopathy medications since last two months. Before I was thinking it to be a temporary problem and was going to go away on its own. But now I am at a point that I have started loosing my mind and becoming frustrated as nothing seems to be working. I have also learned that over time my body would develop tolerance to these anti-histamines and stop reacting.
I was reading on your website that your treatment have helped many people with my condition. I would highly appreciate if could suggest me something.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Binoy.

Holy Cow! Quit spraying that nerve toxin in your yard! Why are you trying to kill everything that flies or crawls? If you have a problem with one or two types of bugs, treat specifically for them. There are many less toxic alternatives available like traps, removing standing water, etc., that will not harm people, pets, children, or beneficial and benign insects like ladybugs, crickets, butterflies, honeybees... If insects are a problem when you go outside, try citronella candles, don't wear fragrances, and use non-toxic insect repellants.

Here is a link to the archives for what to do about hives. Others have cured themselves, you just need to read and understand what has happened to you.
You have Ortho to thank for putting you over the edge. It kills bugs because it is poisonous!

Hi, Binoy.
I hope this insult has not pushed your body over into MCS (multiple chemical sensitivity)--see the archives.
Your allergist is only testing you for 5% of the causitive hypersensitivity responses. In my opinion, you need a much more knowledgable physician. Get a Clinical Ecologist ASAP.
Let us know what you learn.
