Hi, Jenny.
This could be anything from hives to candida, to eczema or many other fungus infestations.
You really need a professional to LOOK at the rash. If the diagnosis is not obvious, and it likely will not be, a biopsy and culture in the lab is indicated.
you coudl also go to the reference sedction of your library and look at all the similar rashes to see what you could learn.
Once you have the diagnosis, let us know since it may have metabolic meaning and/or alternative approaches for treatment.

i get hives/rash all over too, mostly when i work out
or excercise or when i exert myself...
the doctors call it cholinergic urticaria
urticaria means hives...i think the cholinergic has something
to do with an enzyme or something that nerve tissue
around the muscles secretes to make the muscles contract,
called acetylcholine
antihistamines help...but i have gotten to the point where
they don't help as much as they did...
my left eye swells up too when this happens...
hope this helps

Hi, poopiegeorge.
Isn't it wonderful how conventional docs delight in making up fancy names to keep one step ahead of the patient's understanding?
If you have not spent a few hours on the hives archives, it is time for you to do so.
THEN, if you still have questions, write again.

Dr. Stoll,
please take a look at this pic i provided below...it is not
the best but you might be able to tell me is this what
cholinergicurticaria looks like?
i checked out the archives...about urticaria, and was hoping
to find some posts that were more recent(not that the info
wasn't good or anything)
and over and over again the word "SR" kept coming up...
what is this SR you talk about? stress relief?
ps, has there ever been a book written solely for information
and treatment of this condition?
ps, i like what you said about the doctors keep a 'step ahead'
but i wonder, how do they give such a crazy name to something, when they can't even explain how it happnes?
it should be called: 'unexplained rash from exercise with
unknown cure, only expensive treatment'
pps: what do you think about silva mind control? i read
the book years ago and was looking to find info on seminars
in NY...that is how i found this site actually...

Doug,
SR is an acronym coined by Dr. Walt to stand for 'Skilled Relaxation'. It has a very specific meaning that is putting the brain in a state that it produces alpha waves for a period of at least twenty minutes. You can use any method that gets you there, i.e meditation, yoga, relaxation tapes, prayer ... anything that relaxes your mind to the extent that it produces alpha waves. He also reccomends bio-feedback to verify that your mind is really reaching a state of sufficient relaxation.
This discharges the built up stress (fight or flight response) in the brain (specifically the hypothalamus) and allows the body to heal itself. Walt says most people should do SR twice a day for six months to totally discharge the built up stress in the hypothalamus. In my case he reccomended three times a day.
I have found that when I am able to get into a relaxed state (sometimes my mind is 'stiff as a board' and refuses to relax) the effects are immediate and profound. I sleep less, I eat less, a lot of nagging little pains mysteriously go away, my psoriasis stops flaring and hurting, my memories are more vivid and interactions with other people are more animated. This is immediately after a single successful SR session, not something achieved after six months.
Over the couse of the years I have tried meditations, chanting mantras, breathing exercises, prayer etc and none really puts me in a sufficiently relaxed state for these benefits. What I found worked for me was relaxation tapes. You can buy them at any large bookstore (Barnes and Noble or Borders) and Brain Sync is the best known company. I find the ones with only music and tones to be the best. There are tapes that have self hypnosis or guided imagery, but I find the voice distracting. One called 'Deep Meditation' is my favorite. You'll need a cassette player with stereo head phones to use the tapes. I use a Sony Walkman that cost about $20 at Walmart.
I can't speak for Walt, but I know he studied Silva Mind Control and has spoken highly of it several times.
If I were you, I would try SR. It might clear up your problem and if not it's not going to do any harm.
Good luck with your wellness program,
John

The above is a Terrific SR summary and Testamonial from John THANKS!
Please read it if you are looking for a simple answer/understanding about SR. Actually "simple" goes not give it justice. It's much better than simple!

Doug,
I saw your "pic". Perhaps I could convince others to do the same thing since it helps a LOT.
Silva was the thing that worked best for me and it has one of the highest % effectiveness of all the techniques.
