Chronic Hives

Posted by Nannette on November 07, 2000 at 17:30:58:

I have been reading all of the testimonies of chronic hives. I just bought the book today - Mind as Healer, Mind as Slayer. I have tried self-hypnosis before and it seemed to help somewhat. By the way, I have had chronic hives for almost two years now. They first started when I went on a low cholesterol diet, which meant eating mostly protein (similar to the Atkins diet). Ever since that time, I have had hives daily (with the exception of about six months),
which I kept it under control with herbs. Then, my mother
was diagnosed with a malignant tumor which could not be
removed and my body went hay-wire. I broke out worse
than I ever had before. My face was covered, my eyes and
lips swollen. I wanted to die. I then found out I had
helicobacter pylori and took antibiotics to get rid of it
and my hives subsided for about one month. They gradully
started coming back. Now, they are here every day, which
I've been battling again for 6 months. I have been taking
herbs again for about three weeks and some days, it seems
to be working, and others, they're horrible, mostly on my
legs and arms. What types of foods do I need to be eating?
I read that I should eat only vegetable source proteins.
What does this mean? Is there anything out there that
I can go by? Please help. I am at my wits end. I just
want to sit down and cry but I'm afraid that will make me
break out more - by getting upset. Any suggestions?
