Hives

Dear Dr. Stoll, I've had it!!! I have been getting hives for the past 8 years of my life. As a rule they occur only on my hands and feet. Only 1 time did they cover my arms. My feet today are so huge and hurt so terribly! The hive has reached from the bottom of my toes to my heal. What hurts is the arch. I just got home from the doctor. I have seen over 30 doctors including going to Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Mayo was able to do the biopsy and tell me that yes, I have hives. I then received an emergency phone call and had to leave my testing early. The conclusion from the information they had seemed to be that it was stress related. Last year I received over 30 shots of cortisone. I know this is not good for me but feel I have no choice as I have tried over the counter meds, anti-depressants and very strong med. to drink that had some type of cortisone in it but made me so sick to my stomach that I was sick all the time. I am willing to try and do almost anything! I have also been checked for Lupas and other possible diseases. The doctor today, that previously checked me for lupas, took more blood today to check for whatever. I really believed that my hives were due to stress but didn't get any when my father passed away this past Jan.. That was one of the most devestating things I've ever been through as we were so close. Now it's June and I took my 11 year old to camp and my oldest (14) to the plane (her first ever plane trip) to go to Washington to see her Aunt. I get home Wham! hit with hives on my feet so bad I can hardly walk. Haven't changed foods, been in bushes, etc., etc.. I would appreciate any suggestions you may have!!! Thank you so much for taking the time!!! Looking forward to hear from you! Rhonda

Rhonda, A good starting place while Dr Stoll gets to answering you would be to go to the archives and read under LGS. Good luck

Rhonda,

When you so what linker suggests, let us know what you learn.

By the way, cortisone injections for chronic hives should be considered malpractice since they give (at best) only temporary benefits and have such terrible long term risks.

Your hives are a bother and will never damage you whereas the treatment (you have been getting) is a real risk to your health!

I have lots of skin disorders that have been labeled stress, just don't buy it. I also get hives on my hands and feet but I have using a lotion all over my body called moistusil that has helped me so much. I also have started using the laundry system and the soap and shampoo. Just wonderful, the company is called melaleuca, please email if you need more info

Hi, Lynn.

ALL chronic hives are AT LEAST aggravated by chronic stress-effect storage in the hypothalamus.

Perhaps, if you understood the modern medical interpretation of stress (see home page) better you would be closer to resolving yours.
