i'm somewhat surprised i've gotten this far. anyway, 10 months ago i was covered head to toe with huge burning hives, pretty much 24 hours a day. i'm sure i don't have to tell anyone who has gone thru this about the psychological effects. personally, i was ready to hang it up and was considering the most efficient method of suicide. but dr. stoll insisted that the hives would be gone after 12 months of sr and he was right on. i started with 30-40 minutes 3 times a day and the improvement in the first couple of weeks was dramatic to say the least. the improvements over time have been even more impressive. the hives are pretty much a thing of the past and other symptoms (severe joint pain) are mostly gone. the thing is, i resisted the sr for several months. diet and exercise were a lot easier to get into, but it was the meditation that actually turned the trick. i've got my health back and thanks to walt stoll i've got my life back. anybody out there that's thinking of getting started, don't put it off. it pays for itself many times over and in ways you can't even imagine now. thanks dr. stoll (and dr. ferguson and bob mcferran, and the rest of this board) for the support they lend. once again it's the best.

Thanks d, I am thinking you are the person that has recommended the Soma CD by Tom Kenyon. Well I felt like I needed something special to help me along with the e-diet. So I ordered it from Amazon.com EXCELLENT recommendation. Thanks for your sharing and best of luck with the SR.
Namaste,
Denise
d, thanks so much - you are truly inspiring! Denise thanks for the cd info!

It's interesting what each person finds to be most difficult. I easily got into the SR and exercise has always been a natural for me. It's the DIET that has been my most difficult. I must agree, though, I think the SR is the clincher.

d,
Way to go, I'm at the same stage you were 10 months ago.
If you don't mind, what type of SR do you use, and how
did you determine you were "getting there."
Thanks

hi steve,
i learned the silva method @20 years ago and the teacher was setup with biofeedback equipment for testing. very convenient. if only i had kept up the practice over those 20 years. now i augment it with psychoacoustic cd's, especially when i'm feeling scattered. i would suggest not putting off the sr just because you can't figure out how to be tested. get started now! and do as much as time will allow, the results really come fast in the beginning. very best of luck!

i don't want to mislead anyone that my health problems are 100% gone; that would not be true. but the improvement is vast and ongoing. thing is i'm now often aware of alot of muscle tension, especially in my shoulders and back. now if my health has inmproved this much i still have so much bracing, how bad must it have been 10 months ago? and i was completely unaware of it! i knew that, like everyone, i was under a lot of stress, but i thought i handled it okay. i was angry alot but it was righteous anger, directed at entities that truly deserved it. but i was the one reaping it's wrath. stress can't be "handled"! you gotta get rid of it and skilled relaxation is the way.

Thanks d.,
As you NOW know, what you had was TOTALLY unnecessary.
Your being willing to share your experiences will give others the opportunity to help themselves as well.
