Hi Walt,
About two months ago my sister started drinking a glass of water with two drops of hydrogen peroxide in it a day. She said it increases oxygen in the blood. Is this dangerous?
Thanks

My girlfriend used a listerine and water douche for a yeast infection. She said it cleared up in two days. I did try listerine for swimmers ear once; it actually worked.

Dear Mica,
Although I may eventually have to eat my words, I believe that this has real potential for harm. A number of my true "peers" who are using "bio-oxidative therapy" swear by it.
However, all my studies tell me that I would not use it for myself. I have yet to recommend it to anyone although I do know that people have gotten temporary results from using it.
I do not see any harm from using it for short periods of time (a week or so). Where the risk is is in long term use (months or longer).
This was used at the turn of the century and was being phased out by the 20s because of long term side effects. THEN, antibiotics (in the 40s) semed to work so much better that it was given up. Now that antibiotics are becoming better understood, and resistant strains are epidemic, silver & H2O2 are coming back. That is NOT going to make them less toxic over the long run.
By far the best thing for anyone to do is to practice wellness and let the machinery Mother Nature gave us keep us from needing this kind of stuff. Following that approach, I have not had a viral infection (or bacterial) for 20+ years.

Hi, Jennifer.
Listerine is less effective for yeasts than for bacteria. I wonder how the diagnosis was made.
In the long run, creating a healthy bacterial population in the vagina is the best preventive AND TREATMENT for any abnormal organisms setting up housekeeping in the vagina.
Swimmers' ear can be bacterial OR fungal. The best treatment for this is, once again, prevention. While the ear is normal, filling the canal full of mineral oil before swimming & fillling the canal with rubbing alcohol after swimming will keep water in the canal from staying there long enough to reduce immunity & allow the bad bugs to grow. The USA Aquanauts had to learn this lesson to prevent the whole program from failing because of "swimmers' ear".
