I have been doing a little research into alternative medicine, specifically homeopathic medicine.
Now, I hear a lot (of course through conventional med) that it is useful!
well,What a load of tommy rot that is! Because it does work, so far in my experience!
When our son had colic, we were using a homeopathic preparation for that (didnt want to use any drugs or medications), and it really did ease the colic (not cured) and the colic did not last as long as what they normally say colic lasts for. I don't put that down to the medicine itself, more down to what we were doing, and some changes I made, but it sure did help to temporarily ease it.
But even for my hayfever that I had, the homeopathic spray worked brilliant, and when my son had a mild cold, I used a homeopathic remedy specially for infants, and it totally cleared up his cold.It works by stimulating the immune system.
anyone here using homeopathic remedies and find that it is really working or what has your experience been?
The more I research homeopathic medicine, the more excited I am about this form of healing.

I meant to say, that I hear through conv. medicine that homeopathic medicine is USELESS, not useful!

Hi Blissy,
Just keep believing! When I believed in homeopathy it worked for me. When I stopped believing, it stopped working! I think it's the incredible power of the mind, and it underlines all of Walt's theory and practice. In a sense I still believe in it!

Do you think my mind also helped my sons' cold disappear shortly after I started the homeopathic medicine?
Hmm, maybe my mind is stronger than I think!

Wanted to add that my sister uses the same homeopathic remedy I used for my son.
She uses it for her 2 sons whenever they have a cold, and has found it works remarkably well in stopping it from getting worse, especiallly as she has a son with severe asthma, where his colds have sometimes eventuated into asthma.

There's one homeopathic preparation for cold whose name I forgot contains an ingredient about which I have heard (actually read on this board) warnings that it has caused loss of smell.

I also spoke to the naturopath at our pharmacy and he was interested to know what the ingredient was, and what website I got the info. from. Now, at least, i can pass it on to him.

I believe it was zinc in the Zicam that gets applied In the nose. Zinc taken orally, doesn't cause that problem.

why would you Stop believing in something that Did work? I think that it stoped working for some reason, like the problem or the item changed, and something different was needed. When something stops working for me, I Don't think my belief changed, but the product or something in my system did. It has happened a few times, and NO way I would have stoped believing, since things were going Great. I think our systems or the problems change.

why would you use any medicine if you could Think the problem away? Just Think Real Hard. I don't think That works, unless you Think of the Right item to Solve a problem. I use cayenne for a Lot of things, and believe in it, Because it works, but when it doesn't, I don't think it is anything but that it Doesn't work on when I am trying it on. I can usually find out Why it did work, even if it takes a while, just like other things that have worked. It just takes time sometimes, till you hear what it is.

yeppers, that's right.
it's actual name is zinc gluconate, and those complaining about it were administering it nasally.
In tablet form or drops that's not a problem, but nasally it seems to be.
and technically, zinc gluconate or "Zicam" is not a herb.

LOL! If only it was that easy Vince. Just think away your problems!??? lol.
I do believe that some people think they can "think away their problems" (like creating your own reality etc etc), and they must be very strong-minded individuals if that does work.
Although I have come across folk who "talk" about how they are going to be sooo rich and wealthy in the future etc etc, and 10 years later, they are still in their very same predicament. so if they we create our own reality, how about these people, who through visualisation etc, are stillk in their very same predicament?
I think sometimes it can work (and maybe it's also just a fluke too) but I don't think it works all the time.
I mean, really, how many people here have been able to think away their problems, healthwise or otherwise???
Lets take a survey and see!

The curret nominee for the supreme court is said to have written in his HS album, that he was going to be on the court, so I guess some people have a goal in mind from when young, and work for it, but how many people get there?
I prefer to think about what might work, and search for things, that will. I have tried Many things that were said to help problems I have, and a few have worked, but I don't think that I can will something to work, unless it Does, and those that do, work Really fast. I think it is listening and learning, and finding what is needed.

and some folks just react quicker to healing modules. I know that if I take herbs, healing foods etc, meditation, whatever it is, works very quick for me. So I know pretty quick if something is going to work, or if something is going to "quack" ;-) for me.

I think when you need something, that it could work fast. Like watering a wilting plant. Something that happens months after taking something for that long, could be caused by something else. Sometimes the body just heals on its own. It you knew you were deficent in something and kept taking it, I guess it could eventually help.
I read something recently which claims, if you don't need a neutrient, your body limits absorption, and it pases through. Don't know how true that is, but I have had malabsorption problems, so maybe it can happen, but then there are problems from too much of something.

Correct, but we were talking about homeopathic remedies, not herbal ones, and Zicam is called a homeopathic product.

Blissy,
I have shied away from this discussion since I think I have addressed it sufficiently before. However, since it is still alive, one comment: Participitory placebo effect (when both the patient and the physician believes in the remedy) has been established at 75% positive. Of course that is true of allopathic remedies as well and is heavily dependent upon drug detail advertising and now incessant TV promotion.
At least Homeopathic remedies have no demonstrable negative side-effects.
Hope this helps.
Walt
