I am 58 years old and have been taking a combination of Tri-Est and natural progesterone through a compounding pharmacy for 5 years. In the light of recent studies of the possible negative side effects of HRT (heart, stroke, breast cancer)I am concerned. These studies have focussed on conventional HRT. Do these studies apply to Tri-est? Or have any comparable studies been done with Tri-est or other "natural" hormones?

I am taking Bi-Est, and my pharmacist sent us a letter stating adamantly that it is perfectly safe. The recent discovery about conventional HRT is about the synthetic stuff that conventional docs prescribe. Hope this helps you.

Hi Joanie, are you in menapause? Do you still have your uterus, ovaries etc. I'm wondering if the tri-est is only good for women who have not had hysterectomys. I just had surgery and am using a climara patch with estriodol until my ovaries take over again. (more research, more questions) lol.......

Hi, Diana.
To my knowledge Tri-Est has the same fractions of estrogen as Premarin. Only pure Estriol is now recommended.
Contact the People's Pharmacy for the research supporting this statement.

Hi Barb,
Yes, I'm menopausal. I still have everything that God gave me. I'm on Bi-est which is 2mg of estriol and 1mg of estradiol along with progesterone cream. I can't be without either one. I get horrible hot flashes and numerous other symptoms that are unexplainable.

Joanie did you get a saliva test done? I can not find help here

Hi Denise,
No, I cannot afford the saliva test at this time. We've spent so much money on my health issues that I can't ask my husband to shell out any more than necessary right now. Maybe next year.
What is it that you're not getting help with?
