in March of 1994 I had Norplant put in. In '98, our family dr. who is also a OBGYN, said it was out and that it caused an infection on my ovaries, I had it removed in March of '98. Ever since then, I have not had a normal period. (my menstrual cycles were all normal before I got the Norplant). When I go to the dr., they give me a pg test (which is always negative), wet prep and a finger prickis everything turns out to be fine. I have been put on birth control pills to get my period on track, and have taken a pill to get my period started, which worked, but only for that month. At the end of '98, I gained weight all of a sudden, looked pg (5-6 months)(went from sz. 10 to sz. 14)and was sick. The dr. said all was fine that it must be my hormones. I have all the menstrual symptoms all the time, but nothing comes out, could it be that I do not have enough blood? It's really aggervating, please if you can, I need to know ideas or something! If it matters, I do have migranes when one comes, I take Imitrex the pill. The dr. put me on prozac to help w/ the saratoin level, I have been off of those for a long time, that wouldn't affect it would it? What's wrong w/ me?

hummm.... you are fine and it just must be your hormones... sooooo... does that mean it's ok and you need to go on feeling rotten? If it were me I'd fire the doc (I've done it to quite a few).... get out my VISA card and call Dr. Vliet, the woman Doc who wrote Screaming to Be Heard. She will do phone consult$. I'm on my way to see her. Her book is great and this doc won't tell you... 'it's your hormones... now go home." The phone number is 817-355-8008 You can take a look at her book at amazon and run her name in excite and you can read more about her.

Hi, T.A.H.
The first thing that comes to my mind (and I am not trying to be "flip") is "It is not nice to try to fool Mother Nature".
Once one really begins to understand how our holographic bodymind works, it is the utmost arrogance to think we can just twist the hormone system any way we want and not have a lot of people pay the price of that arrogance. It is the patient , and not the doctor, who pays the price of this ignorance.
Fortunately, there is likely still a way out for you. However, you need to try not to get pregnant for at least 2 years since you may not have a healthy pregnancy or fetus before that. If you just look at the medications you are taking: what physician, in her right mind, would recommend your taking those during pregnancy???
The first thing you need to do is LEARN enough that you will be willing to do what it takes to get your system back on a healthy track---else you will not be willing to do it.
To do so, you are going to have to learn more about how the body mind REALLY works than your docs have shown THEY understand up to now. What you have had done is about what I learned in Medical School 40 years ago.
There is a completely new paradigm of understanding that goes directly against what the AMA sees as being in the best interest of the doctor. The problem is that this medical system we now have is supposed to be for the patient and it has evolved to be what is best for the doctor and NOT the patient.
Unless you can learn to think in a diferent way, this is as good as it gets and your future is going to be an unhappy one.
Since you first need to be able to change your pardigm, I would suggest your reading a copy of my book, from cover to cover, several times. THEN, if you need more, go to your library and ask them to find you a copy of "Pigs in the Dirt" by Dean Black, PhD AND call (800) 333-4290 for a copy of his "Health at the Crossroads". Both of these are less than 200 pages and very easy to read. The library should be able to find you a copy of the latter as well. Both were published by Tapestry Press in the late '80s.
THEN, if you still have questions, write again.
In the meantime (without understanding you would have to take this on faith), go to the archives and read all you can about wellness. You can get other resources by going to the glossary for wellness.
You should be normal within a year by practicing all 3 legs of the wellness stool.
