hi everyone it's me once again. Testerday I talked to a friend of mine that lives in the states. She has had no period for 4 months. Yesterday she had an ultrasound nothing was found no baby or anything like that. The reason I am writting is to ask what could cause this? Are there blood tests she should ask her doctor for? she has had no other tests except the ultrasound and as far as I know no other symptoms are present. any idea's??

Is she under or overweight? I've heard that severe anorexia or obesity will cause dismenhorrea (sp?)

It could be from stress, overexercise, or being underweight/undernourished, or an eating disorder like anorexia. Another cause that's common is a homornal imbalance called polycystic ovarian syndrome. For that they should test for estrogen, progesterone and testosterone.

but she could ask. I think it depends on how big they are. Someone I used to work with had that problem.

One thing I forgot to mention is a high intake of soy could also cause irregular periods.

Hopefully, it's nothing serious.

Hi, Tammy.

Listen to Bernadette.

She will need to see a comprehensive complementary medical practitioner to have a chance of figuring this out.

She will need a meticulous lifetime health history as described in the Health Coaching Protocol on this 'site. She could start figuring this out by keeping a daily record of her basal oral temperature (before she gets out of bed in the morning). The longer the record is kept the more it will help the doc.

The most comon cause is storage of stress-effect in the hypothalamus like so many chronic conditions of "civilized" countries.

When she gets competent guidance and KNOWS why this is happening, let us know how she does.

Walt
