Hi,
Doc Stoll, I have an aunt who have got in a short time a fibroid of a grapefruit size on the uterus. She is 36 years old and has never had any child yet.
The docs told her that the only solution was to get the whole uterus removed. She is sad because she was planifying to have a child with her new partner. Is there an alternative to this radical solution?
By the way, what is exactly a fibroid?
Thanks
Serge.

Hi, Serge.
A fibroid is a benign tumor of the myometria (the muscular wall of the uterus.
Since it is a benign tumor, it is pretty easily peeled out of its location without removing the uterus (even with one this size). If her surgeon does not think he is skillful enough to do that he should refer her to one who is!
What is going to stop her from growing a new one if she does not understand what causes them and changes her lifestyle to handle that? Paavo Airola, ND's classic "Every Woman's Book".
